camaro january 05 007.jpg camaro january 05 008.jpg camaro january 05 008.jpg 28 mpg on a down hill maybe! Green Bay sucks so Brett Favre does nothing for me. As far as learning to drive...thats rich! I own jet boats, hot rods and a badass mudding truck. I usually drive pretty mellow in my Tacoma as i have my 2 year old son in the back seat 95% of the time. I bought this for a family friendly vehicle and it doesnt break 21 mpg going 55. I think some people read my forum and think im hating on Tacomas, im not....this is just a thread so new owners could compare and help each other rsesolve the new gremlins these new trucks will be having. I had some general concerns about the bed and those have now been aleviated because of this thread. Thank you everyone for your input.

Hawaii driving is mostly stop and go traffic dodging potholes all day long. I go down the mountain to the ocean and back up each day for a whopping total of 20 miles a day. I get 21 mpg depending on how much peddle mashing is involved.

Turbo 400 transmission. Its a sleeper for sure. I have surprised many people who thought they would jump in front of me off the line. Its whats in the inside which counts LOL!!!

I don't believe that the main goal of this forum is for the reasons you indicate. It's for owners to state what they like or dislike, not to tell the people about real (or unreal) problems exclusively.

Did you read my post. I state what i like and dislike. There are some real fucktards on this forum. Maybe You should read my post again. WTF is wrong with some people. If anyone of you bought a $40000 dollar truck and it has issues one would be pissed. I live too far in the country to be driving to the dealer for warranty repairs. Yes im a bit dissapointed and should have waited for the diesel chevy colorado. I think some of you on here possibly work for Toyota LOL! these are real issues with a very expensive new truck. Maybe some of u are rich and are not feeling the pain like some of us new Taco owners. And duhhh....I realize a sun roof is an xtra add on, it doesnt mean i should expect it to have issues. Come on JACKASSES! I love spending $40000 and having my truck in the shop for repairs already. They kept my truck at the dealer until next week so they can fix the sunroof. Love it! How many people have the sunroof on a new Taco and it rattles? When i say rattle, i mean loud enough to drown out my music. I bought new in hopes of avoiding the reapair shop. Such is life!

You sound redundant. Its to tell people about real problems and likes and dislikes. So in ur mind if there is a problem one should not use this forum for this purpose. WTF! Ok buddy! I joined this forum to tell people about problems with my new Taco and get fixes to these issues. If u have a new Taco with no issues than you got lucky. Do me a favor, when you have a issue with ur new truck, dont bother posting it on this forum....u obviously have somewhere better to turn for things like this????

    Woody-

If you post anything negative about your truck you'll get attacked and run out. Many owners have the exact same issues you do. The bed is nearly indestructible, so don't worry about that. The rattles are somewhat commonplace and you should be able to sort those out with the dealer's help.

The drivetrain is pathetic. I have 17k on mine and have had the TSB, reset the AI (disconnect battery for 30 mins), and it always reverts back to the sluggish, shift happy anemic powertrain we all love to hate.
I'm waiting for something to break or 36k then I'm out.

I've owned 4 Tacomas and 2 4runners, this 3rd gen Tacoma is the worst from a powertrain perspective. But, the ride is nice, off-road aspect is still excellent and the interior is very quite, however the powertrain is downright intolerable.

I really wish you the best with yours.

Thank you so much for chiming in! I really appreciate your honest feedback without ripping me a new hole. It's funny, people get offended when someone spends a lot of money and has some disappointments. I'm happy for the people who bought a new Tacoma and are completely happy with it… However there are many of us who find the truck lacking in many areas. This is not my first four-wheel-drive pick up truck and I have never had this many problems with any of my other vehicles and I only have 2500 miles on the Tacoma. What's the point in the Atkinson cycle and the extra six gear if you're not gonna break 20 miles per gallon it's a joke and Toyota drop the ball on this truck and they know it. I bet future models will have major overhauls.Toyota should spend more time testing before releasing a new product. Atkins cycle sounds like a weight loss program lol!

I don't know/care about your other issues, but the composite bed in both my Tacomas held up great. I've hauled all sorts of stuff that would have dented the shit out of a metal bed.

Im stoked to hear this! I live in Oregon and love the fact that my bed wont rust out even if the weep holes get clogged up.

I'm getting around 25 mpg....But you have to put up with the sluggish shifting and keep your foot out of it...way out....When you think you are taking it easy on the gas....go easier.

Well here's my two cents to all of the bitchers. If this truck is so damn bad in quality and you don't know why you spent $40k and got rid of the best vehicle you ever owned that got better mpg, then why are so many of you spending thousands of dollars more to modify this piece of shit. Why didn't you research more before you bought it? Trade the damn thing in, get that perfectly built truck you should have bought in the first place! Stop bitching, get off this damn forum and do something about it! Life is to short get satisfied!

Things don't happen over night. A different ride could be in the works if I find this Tacoma to be a pain. If I had no issues I would be making rave reviews instead of writing about problems. It's funny how some people see this as bitching....I guess we are supposed to be happy about a problem when it arises. I bought one based on previous years which have outstanding ratings. Excuse me for wanting a new one and being a gineau pig for the new power package.Oops my bad, give me a break! I'm over these nerds on this forum! Have fun with this everyone. Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one!
