37 and I did buy the sr grill but left the emblem chrome... I really didn't care for the chrome which is just as cheap as the black ink not offended at all. Of course we all do what we going to do I just felt like the trd should have had some type of darker grill and not the chrome

I ordered my first truck sight unseen and drove it home 2590 miles stopping every 30 minutes to get out and look at the grill and ask myself what the hell did I buy this ugly catfish looking thing for. I'm used to it now. I sneak up on it from the back and jump in so I don't have to look at the grill very often.

Crazy! Thats funny about the Blue, I have always had grays and browns. When I saw this color I fell in love its my first car/truck with a real bright color. Congrats again on the new truck.

Good thing about a lid like that is if someone asks you to haul something you can tell them, "If it fits under the lid." I don't know why I didn't get a lid. Hell no one ever asks me to haul anything.

Haven't posted in this section since I bought the truck but recently plastidipped the badges, added the BAMF grille, removed the air dam, added a tonneau cover, predator steps, mud flaps and TRD exhaust tip, tinted the front windows, removed the V6 badge and put black vinyl inlays in the Tacoma on the tailgate. Interior additions include the TRD Pro shift knob, black clazzio leather seat covers, weathertech mats and the OEM Audio Plus system. Currently have a TRD Pro Skid plate at the powder coater getting it painted black and future upgrades include a 1" - 2" lift, different wheels/tires and a LED light bar. The mall crawler is coming along.

Yes it does make some weird farting noise when I turn the wheel. No clue why but it only happens at low speeds aka pulling into the garage. I'll ask the service people about it at my 15k.

I don't think it's an age thing I am 64 and I took the chrome grille off my TRD off road and replaced it with a Black SR grille, I think it is more of what you like! I never was a big chrome guy to much up keep.

Yeah I think it is a combination of both preference and age/generational things.

My Dad is 65 and HATES the black look. I'm nearly 34 and like the black on most colors, other than black. I think black trucks look better with a little chrome trim etc. I have two nephews - one 20 and the other 17. Both of them blacked out the emblems/wheels on both of their first vehicles. Now, within the past 6 months, both have replaced theirs with chrome wheels etc. So I have a feeling "chrome is cool" once again for the younger generation.

Might be because my 2014 F150 had a factory black grille and black nerfs with 20" chrome wheels. I never liked the black on that truck. Maybe that is why the sport grille appealed to me. I was actually trying to buy an SR5 with TRD Sport wheels and a TRD chrome grille. Ended up $1200 more than just getting the sport anyway. Blacked out trucks look fine but I like chrome. I am now looking at 20" chrome pvd wheels for my truck. Not looking for mean just looking for classy.

I agree . I still like the chrome accents on cars and trucks. All blacked out used to be the cheap or used rusted car/trucks that were quickly painted via flat black spray can to hide the rust, dents. and corroded aluminum before selling . I also do not mean to offend but it is what it is and it will change back some day .
I like your profile pic. ! I am a retired Tool and die maker . We are a dying breed .

Did a bit of die work back in the day myself. It gets me how cnc button pushers call themselves machinists. They don't have a clue. I am old school. Worked on ships and aircraft using manual machines and then moved up to 4 and 5 axis cnc mills. Loved them. If you don't know manual machining then how can you troubleshoot and post-engineer or write a program for machining issues. I worked at a machine tool manufacturer making cnc crankshaft mills and cnc forging machines for 20 years. There are guys there, with nearly 30 years experience, that can only run 1 or 2 cnc machines. Put them on a bridgeport or manual lathe and they go home sick. Was in machine shop supervision and management over 15 years. Used to amaze me that someone on a tilt head bridgeport or a horizontal 4 axis mill needed a fixture to cut a 30 degree angle on a face. A good manual machinist can do some amazing things with a good cnc horizontal mill. That was my forte. A good challenging job was boring a tapered bore on a submarine diving plane. Not one square or flat surface to set up to. Only the existing tapered bore. I miss being challenged. Now just a QA guy that laughs at what people try to pass off as good quality machine work. Another thing that amazed me is "machinists" that cannot work on cars. That baffles me. A dying breed indeed.

    Impressive.
I learned on manual machines , survived by becoming efficient on CNC's .Spent that last years correcting other peoples screwups and machine failures for repairs . Now they are using 3d printing . We are /were like blacksmiths in today's world . I hope it keeps going without a hitch .
Anyway I miss realy chrome plated steel and polished aluminum !

I've never met a machine operator who referred to themselves as a machinist. I pushed buttons on CNC machines really well while putting myself through school and moved up quickly. Always called myself a CNC machine operator. Learned a lot, did some great projects, but glad it's in my past.
