I wonder if it is a NAFTA thing? Like; Mexico to US is cool. And TX to Canada is cool. But Mexico to US to Canada is not and messes with tariffs and such, or just makes it an unnecessary complication.

When people post about issues with their Tacoma, it would be nice to know where it was assembled in each and every case.

This has happened before. A lot of people have DC's. Mexico produces more DC's than Texas. However there was issues with trucks from Texas as well. The exact numbers we'll probably never know. I'd suspect CPS failures to be from both, hood issues were from both I believe. Big problem and failures it doesn't matter what plant they roll out of. They are just assembly lines. Lose cab mount bolts now that is an assembly issue. Same with tranny fluid. I think what plant what comes from isn't really relevant in most cases

It wouldn't surprise me actually. It went from 10-18 within 2 hours with no responses after being up for 24hrs. Most of those could be just one person with multiple accounts. Even taking it as it is though, the numbers suggest that these trucks aren't junk, just have a bunch of kinks to work out. Toyota can't afford to replace every cps and diff every 10k over the next 10 years. The cps issue really sucks, but it will be corrected and I'm not worried about that issue so much while aiming for 300k miles

Honestly the votes didn't really go up crazy until I pointed it out and called the haters out. Also the CPS issue was taken care of. The exact number of trucks with effected parts we won't know. Maybe 1/8 2016 tacomas?? But those were all early to mid builds

    Maybe.
I know we have trade agreements with the US but not sure if we have them with Mexico.
    You could be right.
I'm not sure about whether any mexican ones are here. The two dealers I asked said they haven't had any come in, that all that have been sold both this year and last year were all texas made, one of the dealers went on to say it shouldn't matter though because they're just 'assembled' not made.
To be fair I really do not care. Hell almost think a Mexican made one would be better. Harder workers likely not unionized so they need to work for their job where texas are probably unionized and protected. I spent some time working as a service electrician at GM and honestly they're fuckin hacks, but the union protects them.
From what I've seen quality control is lacking from both plants.

Yup. I agree. Haven't seen any bias from where they are made vs problems. Also agree Mexican workers are likely better sadly enough

I knew I should have set it to show the names of people who voted. Basically ruined this poll in a way. I mean seriously, did all 19 people not read the first post or is this just a bunch of trolls. I hate TW some times. That being said, this still makes me feel a little better about the truck. So far is one transmission failure, and a handful of cps (haven't seen any cps/valve cover leak yet but I know there are some)

Not certain if you consider a rear end howl or whine a reliability issue, but I do. It occurs between 50-60 MPH and was confirmed by two separate Toyota dealerships. I have since test driven several other 2016 and 2017's in the Off Road version, and they ALL have it. I also test drove a couple of the Sport models and the noise is considerably less. Therefore, I can only guess that the issue is mostly limited to the Off Road's coming out of Baja.

The first thing needed in determining whether or not your truck has this issue is, are you sensitive to the noise in the first place? If not, maybe you should just drive it and not concern yourself with it. Next, do you know how to identify what you are hearing? Is it a whine, a whistle, a growl or some other descriptive noise that doesn't sound right? Don't just guess, have a technition ride with you to help identify the source of the noise. The sooner Toyota realizes this is a problem that is not going away, the sooner they can get to work. It really is unacceptable and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Being this is an all new engine, transmission and rear end, in my opinion, Toyota needs to own up to this issue and take the necessary steps to fix the problem or many of the loyal Tacoma owners will begin looking elsewhere. Rant over.

Mine is from tx and has it. Im a tech and not worried, i saw shavings but acceptable amount when i changed my fluid at 2500. I'm honestly not all too concerned since there are people at 30k and running strong, if there was catastrophic issue it would show itself before then. I understand its not right. There is a noise and almost all do it. Toyota replaces them once then says it's normal. Replacing a good diff isn't a reliability problem. Did it blow up? No? Then how do you know there is a problem with it? I agree they need to figure it out but since toyota says it's normal and closes the case then for this reason do not vote yes, but if it blew up then do put it as yes

11 months without any problem. This is the reason I chose a Toyota.

Mine was from Mexico. Do you know anything more on the rear leaf spring squeaking issue?

I think that one's going to be an uphill battle. I have a feeling they are more focused on the other issues. They may come out with a different bushing or something in the future, but may need to look to aftermarket to find a future fix as I figure toyota probably doesn't think it's a real problem. I think they may come out with different springs as a fix for rumble strip & diff noise as I feel like the drive line angles are the cause and may address the spring squeak along with it

I will continue to fight with the service manager on this uphill battle!
