Ran my 2010 F150 on dry roads for years to keep it lubricated....never had an issue. I off road in the Tacoma so I don't have a need to do it on the road anymore:thumbsup:

Do you need to know, or care?
Let me ask, why did you buy 4X4 if you are asking? Do you understand what it is used for or was this an accident?

I bought it to be safe just in case I need it. I had a WRX before and loved the AWD. Anyhow it wasn't an accident. I didn't know you are not suppose to drive on dry pavement. Like I said I am a noob.

Why would you need 4wd on a high traction surface? Like what's the need? All your doing is wearing stuff out.

Well I was going up a mountain in a state park. I thought using 4hi would give me extra traction on the windy road.

Ok, not like an AWD. This locks your transfer case to turn the front wheels all the time. Leave it in 2WD until you actually need 4WD. Suburu uses a different system then this. This is a true 4WD, unlike Suburu that uses a system that applies pressure when it senses slippage as required.

I wish the Taco had a full-time option with the transfer case along with part-time Hi and Low. My old Jeep and Tahoe had that combo. It was nice for intermittently snowy roads and pulling into parking structures where you have to leave an ice covered surface directly onto clear cement.

I've run mine for 15 miles on the pavement before but it was on the interstate and no sharp turns. Didn't hurt it and I'll never make a habit of it but that day there was patchy ice. It would be icy and then it would be dry. I think the best thing to do is just leave it in 2wd and slow down. It didn't hurt my truck but I was worried while I was doing it. I generally put about 30 miles a month on mine in 4wd because dirt roads where I live are 5 minutes away. As a matter of fact there is a bigger city I go to every weekend 15 miles away and there are 3 different dirt roads that get me there without the interstate. I use those on the weekends when I'm running errands. In the winter they are impassable most of the time but the interstate gets greasy on a regular basis so I can lube the hubs anyway.

As far as the OP's question? If it drives fine now and it goes in and out of 4wd and doesn't make any weird noises I wouldn't worry about it. I certainly wouldn't do it again though. When I first bought mine used from my dad it hadn't been in 4wd for a long time. I pulled out onto the pavement from a dirt road one time and it hadn't gone out of 4wd evnthough I shifted out of it because the system was obviously sticky from not being used enough. Man, did I feel the binding when I made a sharp right hand turn. I immediately backed up and messed with it until the 4wd light went out. Didn't hurt anything. It's fine 30,000 miles later.

Read the owners manual on how to work the 4 wheel drive another tip. If you try to engage 4x4 high at a stop it dosent always engage. U need to be moving to engage 4hi

Subaru AWD was awesome though. I never had to worry about traction ever.
