You can also have them sprayed with blacken clear coat. Professionally it looks better than any cover or tint. However if you got a ticket it's not removable. You'd have to replace the lights. However you can mix the clear as light or dark as you want

Never understood smoked headlights/taillights. Just makes you harder to see.

here I've heard people being rear ended and being ruled at fault because of their smoked tails.

Smoked headlight lenses is a darwinistic idea. You are drastically cutting your light output and visibility, which is the sole purpose of the headlight.

Edit: Read last comment and thought it was headlight covers, but seems possibly more general? Taillights? Either way not a good practice IMO.

Yes. The TRD Pro is similar to the Black HeadLight Mod (BHLM), except in more of a smoked color. BHLM: Paint the interior (non-reflective surfaces) black, leave the lens clear. Looks darker and has zero impact on light output and safe operation. With a 3rd gen projector you could paint a large area black without affecting light output. Meaning much safer.

i was told by 2 tint shops nobody will/can tint them. excuse of the fins that stick out at such sharp angles.
they said it's gotta be painted.

also like stated above i'd rather have the paint on the inside not the outside

I believe so. I havent gotten it in my hand so dont really know to be honest.
Im a bit concerned about heat though. I hear that many films would melt or deform reflectors inside
