    But the same tuner...so it's still applicable. IIRC The Tacoma ECU kept reseting and people were having to go reset the Tune every couple of months. So it's still a little early to tell if its legit or not, you know?

    Please do! I really hope everything is legit and there's no issues. But other than Unichip there have been zero plug and play tuners on the market that worked. It kinda feels like magnuson was just using BD tuners on a stretch so they wouldn't have to develop their own tuner.

    I was on the fence between BD and TRD, but decided with the BD tune with the hope of future upgrades, plus it's covered under warranty. If it keeps dumping, I'll push for a partial refund and have the dealership install the TRD flash.

    Theirs a handful of companies that use bully dogs tuner to install their own tunes. H&s being the first to come mind.

    That's wonderful, but again, so far the only proven results we have for TACOMA'S with the BD Tuner is it dumps the tune after a couple months and the ECU Resets.

    We'll see. I've had a few bd tuners, including one for a Tacoma and never had that issue. I'm currently using it to monitor temps on my truck as they didn't
    Make a piggyback tune for my year Tacoma with a supercharger. But I did use it as a tuner prior to s/c

    Which you can control by gear selection and throttle control. Stay in the correct gear so as to use the minimum amount of throttle needed to maintain your speed and you will not go in to boost

    High gear, low rpm up a hill even small can create boost... thus its load dependent.

    Course this is foolish and will smack the rotors around like whack a mole and ping truck to death.

    But, its load... not throttle

    Since we're on the topic of controlling boost via load/throttle, forgive me if this is a dumb question but I haven't for the life of me been able to find an answer for it since I got my truck (manual trans)

    Why is it impossible to achieve boost in first gear? I can start to see some in 2nd if I'm really opening up the throttle, but it isn't until 3rd gear that I can hit 5 or 6 psi. 3rd gear is when it feels like a fire gets lit under my truck's ass, but 1st and 2nd don't feel any different than it did N/A. Maybe I'm not pushing my RPM's enough (I almost always shift around 3k, 3.5k tops)

    Again sorry if this has an obvious answer but it's got me wondering for awhile now.

    U can do 80 up a grade in 4th, 3500ish rpm and pull ZERO boost. Load is small due to proper gear.

    Thats news to me.

    Roots blowers should boost on demand regardless of gear or rpm as long as theres load.

    Maybe a bypass issue?

    Do you have aftermarket gearing? Larger tires will create more load on the engine, with stock gears, for an example.

    That's what I feared, that it wasn't normal behavior....I'll have to try and find a shop around me that knows what to look for. Surprisingly most Toyota dealerships I've been to out here want nothing to do with anything related to the TRD supercharger. Thanks for the input


    No aftermarket gearing, at least not to my knowledge. Stock size tires, though they are E rated KO2s which are notoriously heavy. Wouldn't think that would make that much of a difference but maybe it is...

    Then check your belt tension, and bypass valve.

    Easy test, remove the vacuum hose from the bypass valve. Cap open ends. Make sure it has full range of motion and isn't stuck. Then go for a test drive and see if you now have Boost where it should be.
