    Can anyone with an ARE Topper... when you get a chance, check what brand/number struts you have? Mine just has the glass hatch,sliding half windows on the sides, sliding middle window up front i think a 100 series.
    In December of last year I replaced both with the closest ones I could find... 10 months later, I have to replace them again. Theres a 5 year warranty, but only if you buy through them, which the increased prices reflect ($22 shipped on Amazon, $60 before shipping on their site).

    The ones it came with were
    Stabilus lift-o-mat
    025531 0110N 157/12 B 27
    4027/ 14.4in/ 24#

    I replaced them both with a
    Suspa
    C16-06389
    * Extended 13.98" (355mm)
    * Compressed 8.50" (216mm)
    * Force 24 lbs (107N)

    Could the 0.4" difference be an issue?

    Anyone running 255/85-16s on an 8" rim? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some SCS rims but they only come in 16x8. I've seen some pics around the web with this combo and the rim lip looks completely exposed. Looking for pics if you got em.

    I wouldn't, the 7" takes enough damage with that size.

    Thanks. Now to figure out if those two numbers that are different mean they are different... or if thats just an insignificant number.

    One would think they would like to make it easy... or tolerable to find their products. Not so much.

    I found a fitment guide that told me to measure the lengths and then go to an auto parts store. I did that the first time, and they couldnt find anything to match which is why I bought the others on Amazon. :/

    What do you guys recommend for diff and t case fluid? I've always used redline stuff if my old vehicles but I feel like I read some of you had issues.

    I'm sure Redline is good stuff, but I'll never use it again. Currently running it in the lawn mower to get rid of it. I really think it's way too thin for gear oil, regardless of synthetic mix.
    Lucas seems to work pretty well and considerably cheaper. Just my opinion though. I don't think these old trucks need anything special other than the correct GL rating in the transmission.

    You did, we were talking about it a couple of weeks ago (my post was on the 29th). I started with Redline after what came in it, then switched to Amsoil Severe Gear. Which is overkill, and they do have a 'long life' rather than 'severe' which is slightly cheaper, but neither are what you would call inexpensive. But I've been very happy with it.

    The older I get, the less focused I am on the name-brand. I shoot for synthetics, in the correct weight range, under a name you know, and affordable (i.e. no boutique fluids).

    The only fluid I do get particular about is manual trans fluid.
