This video from Sparks Parts mentions "several clips at the bottom" in addition to the 2 bolts and 2 clips at the top to remove the grill, and you can see the guy reaching down inside to presumably release them. For those who have done this, is that your experience as well? If so, how many clips are there at the bottom? I'm trying to identify them before I proceed.

 

None. 2 tabs and 2 screws on top area that's it

 

Figured I'd start at 9:00 so I could be done before football. This took only 15 minutes to do and that's being distracted and goofing off. I kinda figured my bar would be right in the way. I still like way better than my other grille. Now I gotta kill 2 hours waiting for football.

 

No I realize its plastic and I'm really not a fan of chrome. I'm more a fan of polished or brushed steel colour.
But I agree with you black is a generational thing. But with every generation, black will fade away when the next big thing comes out. For instance
look at all the 4wd magazines, there seems to be a movement of getting away from blacking things out. The only thing that I don't like about black is
it tends to hide the details when photographed or seen from afar.
Like you said, it would be boring if everyone's truck looked the same.

I'm 34 and I love the pro grille and black rims . Lol

 

I guess I fall in the middle. I'm 34 yet I hate fake cheap plastic chrome and also not a big fan of everything blacked out. I prefer color matched body panels over black. I actually plan to have my stock SR grill and surround painted body color, 2 stage paint, to match everything else. I love my stock SR wheels being darker than body color but not black. I also plan on doing the BHLM however again not black, internals will be painted body color and cleared.

Is anyone running the OME 886 springs without a winch/bumper? How's the ride?

 

Nothing to do with quote, I remember you saying you were looking for mesh. I was thinking of doing the same thing. l found some that I like on this site customcargrill.com. I was looking at the 1/4 " plastic that way I could just glue it.

 

I'm going to check out Lowes tomorrow after work. I plan to use metal painted flat black and screw it in place using the OEM screws used to hold the grill surround on. If I need for attachment points, i'll bend an edge up on the metal and drill my own pilot hole. There's so much plastic back there and so many places to secure the mesh, no need for glue. Once I have it all figured out I will post pictures of the process.

 

Unlikely any of this will happen until spring but I will of course post pictures in this thread when it happens.

Ok well whats holding bottom on? I have removed the 2 screws and 2 plastic locking tabs ... now what? I pull from front bottom of grille but there is something holding it

 

Nothing, it just pops off.
