If you are like me then you are probably too cheap to buy rock sliders so i decided to build my own. They are super strong and were very easy to make all the steel was 2x2 square tubing welded straight to the frame. This was my first welding project so go easy.

I just mocked them up a bit the inner rail is 78.5" the outer rail is 67.5" the bars welded to the frame are 8" the little bars conecting the rails are 3" the whole project took about 5 days and cost about $120 steel=$100 paint=$15 cut off wheels=$5

nothing major just make sure you have some space between the slider and the body so they do not smash against each other. i used some cardboard and a friend to mock them up while I tacked it to the frame.

The welder was only $100 from harbor freight it worked well enough for me. Still cheaper than spending $500 on sliders from allpro and it was mostly a way for me to teach myself to weld/ fabricate.

haha yep the good old mig blaster 2000 its pretty shitty but it works for me. When I made them I was a senior in high school with no real money to drop on anything decent. the sliders can support the weight of the truck just fine and have saved me from a good amount of damage.

this is awesome. where did you get the steel? I'm thinking about doing something like this. I really like the look and functionality (as steps) of square tubing rather than round tubing. I know it's not as good for sliding on rocks, but i dont anticipate i'll be doing much of that. Do you think this is strong enough to lift (jack) the truck from the sliders?

Where exactly in SoCal do you live Mike? If you live kinda close to me, you could get your material from LACO steel in Gardena and they have the best prices around. Talk to Chris, he's the tall Asian dude in the office
