Hello. Do you have any videos of your flare shift? Please post the videos with descriptions.

 

No videos of transmission issues. Only videos I made were for other problems that were less known for broken tpms sensors and a nasty squeaky suspension that I posted on youtube. Toyota did not believe those were actual factory issues until I provided those videos to Corporate. They also did not want me posting another youtube video of a repeating grease smear on my driver glass so they fixed that. Also used other members receipts as proof of Toyota knowledge to get my speedometer cluster replaced for random trip meter resets. Those videos got my truck fixed. The dealer already knew about transmission problems with the Tacomas so I did not need to prove anything to them. I had already opened a Corporate case before my first 5,000 mile service. They thought topping fluid, that was 1 quart low, would fix my transmission. It did not. Then 1 week later the TSB came out and mine was the first done at that dealer. That was fantastic for 1500 miles. Then s.o.s.. So frankly I am a little burned out making videos for Toyota to respond to problems. I am patiently awaiting the NEXT FIX for the transmission. If one does not come out within a couple of months I will put the final mod on my truck.

 

Bravo mrproduxn, come on , you and I are among the 50 some odd percent, that are constant complainers. We put up our hard earned $S on a leap of faith that the mighty Toyota Corporation presented to the trusting consumer the new , improved, more powerful and surely in many ways superior to the previous generation Tacoma.Toyota advertised all the above accolades plus much , much more. Please , refill your glasses of Toyota cool aid , and don't be surprised if your hallowed Tacoma reverts back to it's bad habits. Toyota is financially huge, apparently the 2016 Tacoma's owners issues are not very prominent on their radar screen, next to all the safety issues costing them millions. Big T knows customers loyal to the brand will continue to flock to the awesome Tacoma. Fifth Tacoma, two Lexus , no more, I have placed my faith and money in Toyota Corporation and if Toyota fails to correct issues , good bye. Guess what? They don't care. Sound like sour grapes, no, just the cold hard facts . Toyota needs to deliver what the faithful signed on for.

The fellow that wrote this article is a Tacoma writer. I think it's time we share our thoughts with him. Maybe we can enlighten "Tim" with the reality of our 6 speed tranny issues...

And the only complaint I ever had, with 2 Corollas, 2 Avalons, 2 Prerunners, a 87 SR5 truck, a RAV4, a 4Runner and a Highlander were the high prices I paid for top quality vehicles. In my own defense they were all built in Japan.

 

Hell mine was good the first 2 days too. Not going to get any awards with the 2016 Tacoma unless they have an award for WORST PRODUCTION TRANSMISSION or FASTEST TRADE IN MODEL.

A BRAND NEW TACOMA SHOULD NOT NEED REPROGAMMED.....BUT EVERYTHING IS NORMAL I WAS TOLD , THEN A BULLSHIT (TSB COMES OUT) MINE REVERTED BACK TO A TURD AFTER 1500 MILES. HAPPY FOR THE ONES THAT TRURLY DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, JUST WISH I WAS ONE.

Best description to date, 2016 Tacoma takes top spot, wonder if Toyota is really proud ? Should be ashamed of the their drivetrain efforts and even more so with efforts to heal the gaping wound.

 

I wonder if anyone has attempted to apply the lemon law for these transmissions. Mine has been in twice and it seems several people have made more than 3 attempts to get theirs fixed. What is the procedure to seek a buyback from Toyota. And "normal" seems to be only the sellers opinion.

 

Each state has its laws . One must check the lemon law from their own state .
Certain criteria must be met to qualify .

Lemon law procedures vary somewhat from state to state, meaning procedure is not federally regulated. A book dealing with all the ins and outs titled "Owner's Warranty Rights Notification" . Rather interesting the hoops a Toyota owner must specifically and in a timely fashion successfully ring. I did not finish law school, the book and procedures must be followed to the letter if not , consumer must align and adhere to stated steps, who says so , well the attorneys have scripted these very guidelines. There is and always been strength in numbers, a bombardment of calls to Toyota call center will at least alert the higher ups that there truly is a issue to be dealt with. I remain at a loss as to how one should proceed . The laws favor the manufacture ,just read over the consumers step by step obligations then view the manufactures obligations, the consumer is low person on the pole. Well my 2016 shut down completely dicing to work. I had to have it towed to local Toyota dealer and they said there was a sensor that went bad in my transmission. They put in a new one and my receipt says they performed this update. Now my ect power does. It feel like it does anything. However it does delay the downshifting a great deal. Like a manual tranny. I liked the original settings better call me crazy. Maybe I had gotten used to it

 

They did the TSB Friday morning, October 14, 2016 !!! I was instantly satisfied as i was putting it in gear, very smooth, I did not think I had the lurching problem but i most have because now it is very smooth. Put my foot on the gas and guess what, it just went, none of that hesitation, it just went !!! Also it does not feel like I am dragging a 500 pound gorilla behind the truck anymore. Also the not up shifting while in cruise is gone and the drastic down shifting when you reengaged the cruise is gone also. I am very happy !!!

We are very happy you have seen positive results with the TSB performed. Just curious on your paperwork does show TSB number. The T-SB performed was T-SB-0077-16 or another TSB , please confirm or list a different TSB number. Enjoy your new Tacoma, great vehicle other than drivetrain, hope it maintains the current operation performance.

 

Are we sure the tsb reset the learning mode in the transmission? Had tsb done but I've been getting 14-16 mpg city in my 2017 TRD Sport. My 2016 SR5 ( got totaled) was getting 18-19 city driving. Only thing I can think of is dealer got it from another dealer 170 miles away and during that time the driver had it floored. I'm now just shy of 1000 miles and no improvement in mpg.

 

Paper work say performed TSB0077-16. I have also seen a little bump in fuel mileage.
