The dealership tried to charge me 40$ a quart, how nice of them seeing as how wholesale looks to be 20 $ or so.

if its like us, the price is the price, set by the manufacturer. I can buy certain parts online for less than our cost is at the dealer.

I made an appointment to change my diffs and transfer case at 15k, was told they had to order the fluid at 300$ after tax. I ended up buying my own at an auto parts store for @100$

Sorry. You don't really need a torque wrench if you are sensible using a wrench or ratchet.

Hey guys! I tried to change my rear diff oil and I couldn't open the freaking bolt... I spent around half hour under the truck trying and trying and nothing... that bolt is like welded to the freaking diff....

I came from job and tryed to do it and nothing... the diff wasn't that hot... I could touch it and leave my hand on it..

So what I'm hoping is that the entire diff was to hot now after a 1 hour drive and that shit was expanded and that's why I couldn't open it... I'm going to try tomorrow morning to see...

Any thoughts?? Am I the only one???

Ps: I'm sure I was unscrewing.. or trying to haha

    all tore up already
didnt have much issue removing either plug on the rear diff. while mine was draining i did the breather mod. between fresh lucas 75w90 and diff breather, the howl in the rear end is greatly reduced. think my breather was already clogged too and i was surprised how much crud was on the drain plug magnet.

Today I went to Home Depot and bought a 1/2" galvanized tube to extend my wrench and it worked.. at the beginning I was applying force on a 9" wrench.. then with the pipe I almost had 2 feet and it worked..

I drained my oil (it was very clean) and I had some very thin particles on the magnet of my drain plug..

The funny thing is that i put a little bit less than 4 quarters... it started to drip on the filling hole so I stopped.. i close the filling bolt and moved the truck about 10 meters to the front and then parked again to make all the parts move and see if I needed to put more after that, so I opened the filling hole and it drip a little bit so I had no choice.. it was ok so I tighten everything and that's it!

I just finished my rear diff mod. Need to change the fluid and see if I get less noise. When I undid the breather pressure was let off like it was clogged or is that normal?
