I'm ready to go. Do we have to wait until the 21st to place the orders?

No invoices will go out stating tomorrow.
Haven't responded to any pms yet because I'm not in front of a computer and it's a pain to update the op on my phone.

    @TIM.TRDSparks

Looking through the installation manual, it looks like there are some seals that they want you to re-use. My truck only has 25k miles on it, but I'm not really a 're-use the gasket' kind of guy. Any chance you could help us put together a list of part numbers for items some of us might want to replace?

    • Spare clips for the core support cover, grille, bumper cover
    • The 6 injector insulators
    • Intake port gasket
    • Throttle body o-ring
    • Spare supercharger belt
    • The 2 o-rings behind the thermostat water manifold
    • Anything else?

    PM sent to you @big_jarv.

BUMMER! FWIW, I read the thread exactly as you did. I read the Magnuson warranty document to say all of us with over 3yrs/36K miles get no warranty, regardless of who does the install.

Only 25k miles. My in-service date is 11/20/13 so I had better hurry up and git-er-dun. I'll be doing the install myself (ASE master tech) at the shop I work at, which meets the listed requirements so I should be golden as long as I have a repair order stating the work was done.

@Speed Freek is a former Toyota master tech, I know a lot of members on here in Socal have hired him for work on their trucks

Also, for those of you that do not currently run premium fuel... You may want to run your tank all the way down and start running 91 in your next tank so that by the time you do the install, all the 87 will be out of it. I've been running 91 since I bought it the truck. Not because it makes a much difference, but because it's cheap at Costco and because I'm used to running it in all of my BMWs.

I traded the 550i for the Tacoma. Trying to convince my wife to unload the X5 before her extended warranty runs out next year. I'm a mechanic but the X5 is my least favorite to work on.

The install instructions says to do at least one tank plus an oil change.

Might have to look into that.
I've been quoted some pretty outrageous install prices.

I'm sure there are plenty out there. Look on some local car forums. Make friends with someone who works at an ASE certified shop. The warranty doesn't say it has to be a Toyota dealer. Any ASE certified shop. Out here there are quite a few independent Toyota/Lexus specialist shops.

Problem is a lot of local car shops won't do it because they don't wanna be responsible for it.

Good god this is tempting... I've been creeping this thread since it started and have been floating over the button to "add me" since I saw it pop up.

Need opinions. My truck is an '08 with 90xxx miles on the clock. I've been told, but don't know the validity of the claim, that boosting a "high" miles truck is not a good idea. That it should be done to a new engine.

However I use my truck to move heavy equipment. I have 600+ lbs of weight in the bed all the time, full armor, and bigger than stock tires. A little extra "giddy up go" would be nice. Also since I'm working on a trailer for my profession that will add more weight. This would be a functionality addition. Although I'm sure it will be used for smiles from time to time... :burnrubber:

    Sorry for the novel.

Why not just get a new truck you ask? Because... A SC is cheaper than a new truck, and don't much care for big vehicles. Tacoma can get in tight spots that big trucks can't. It's incredibly handy having that type of mobility.
