What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Weird, did you run no shocks with busted ass old leafs. When I first got my new leafs I ran without shocks for two weeks and it was pretty tame, got harsher when I put the billies in. Leafs naturally dampen because of the friction between them but if you had old worn out ones I could see you bouncing over a lane.

Guess it depends on what you're doing. No way I was gonna run any weight without them, but while I was measuring and waiting for the 5125s to come in nothing of note happened without shocks.

 

I just cut a hole in the side of the bottle and reused the stock grommet. The pump fits in nicely.

As for the low fluid sensor, I cut that thing off and threw it in the trash years ago.

 

Since I'm thinking about rear suspension so much, what's ur opinion on these for a shock relocator?

 

Would be hard to do under the bed but if your wheels have enough back spacing I suppose you could mount your shocks outside the frame rails with those.

 

There's a few guys that run that but they say the wheels rub the shock when they flex

 

On the web sight they have them outside the rail, I was planning on getting new rims before I get new tires, probably whatever size is needed for tundra breaks, was just general curious about them.

Went to a jeep meet today...
32 people showed up, nothing super extreme, biggest tires anyone had was 37s. It wasn't so bad I guess, got to see some neat setups and wheeled a bit (didnt bring my truck just wheeled my friends jeep). There was SO MUCH trail traffic though, it was like driving in new york city at 5pm, the queues just took forever. We didnt hit much, maybe 3 or 4 decent hills. Mostly watched everyone else wheel. spent more than half the time just taking pictures guess "its a jeep thing"

 

Thanks for the review on them. Maybe you can find some matching stainless hardware and some clear acrylic to replace the yellowed covers. Not sure how hot they get though.

 

FWIW I have been happy with the Bosch brand rotors. They come ceramic coated I believe so there is little to no rust on them.

 

Great job! Curious to know if the Por15 rubberized undercoating you used is UV sensitive like the regular Por15 is? I have heard that you can spray on a clear topical to the Por15 to help with the UV breakdown, but don't know anything about the rubberized product.

 

Is that these? Or the carquest brand ones? I didn't really pay attention, I was more pissed that the other set rusted so quickly. The carquest ones weren't coated like these are so that these actually last at least till I save up for my sas

Thanks man! Thats a good question, and I'm not sure what effect UV will have on it. I didn't see anything warning that it will fade, like they do on the OG POR15, so here's to hoping that its all good! If it does, I might try the bed liner POR15 has, that at least states its UV resistant.

 

Wish I took more pics from this trip but I got a video or two that are cool. All 4 wheels off the ground and it glided on landing too easy. Once I get my bumps I WILL launch it. Aired down the tires to 15psi and I tore through the trails. Full Long Travel is absolutely insane.
