Opt-7 HID bulbs update

Well I didn't like how poorly my stock head lights worked at night. And I don't like how much distance LED lights seem to loose..
So I installed the Opt-7 HID Blaster set up. It was amazing at just how easy it was to install. Plug and play. And no extra wires or relays to run ! They looked so good that I ordered a set for my high beams and another set for my wife's Camry ! I will put the fog lights in next as soon as I save up some more money.
They come shipped in a nice box with the bulbs and ballast protected in foam. You can use the foam on your old bulbs to protect them as back up if you have a problem. But they do come with a two year warranty !

With the warm up, hid isn't going to do much if you need to flash your high beams. Want to go led for that. But those are really cheap, might try them for my fogs

 

These fire up almost in a splint second. I am sure they won't be full intensity till fully warmed up. But when I need to use my bright lights to drive they should be amazing.
But I do plan on putting them in my fog light location. I can tell when I have my headlights on that the close up area has a yellow tint when they are on..

 

Did you get h11b bulbs to ensure no shadow?

Ya, I don't run my fogs now that I have hid lows. I might actually choose the true yellow hid option though

The light pattern is extremely good, has a nice sharp cut off just like the halogen ones did. But a lot brighter...

 

Is the distance better? Like a lot better than the halogen?

 

Reviews on Amazon suggest that these are no different from other OPT7 products - junk. Buy yourself a few 6-packs with that $30.

 

just read about melting wires. Yeah...pass on that shit.

 

I will see how well they work. As far as melting wires, I don't see how they could. They only pull the same amount of juice when first turned on, then the power draw drops.
The light output is a lot better than halogens.
They will NOT WORK for high beams, they will not fire up.
Using in fog light area, way to bright ! Would blind oncoming traffic !

I will see how well they continue to work...

Can't go wrong with LEDs.

 

How are these holding up? I ordered some opt7 bullet hid's last night. Had a gift card laying around so got them for around $5, figured why not. Can't stand the stock output. I will be doing a proper retrofit later down the road.

 

for looks, maybe not. but for function, they are worse in general than a decent halogen. nice try though

 

So far they are working fantastic !
My wife liked them so much I put some on her new Camry.
I did test them in my lower fog/driving lights. They make a great improvement in lighting up close objects. And they are not distracting to oncoming traffic like I thought they might be.
The only thing I couldn't get them to work in were the high beams. But the ones in that location already work great...
One time I did get a strobe effect, but I think I might of caused it by turning off the lights then right back on. I turned them off, waited a few seconds. Turned them back on and they worked..

 

I'd like to see how these hold up after a few months...

Got my opt7 bullet hid kit today. Installed it just before dark. Had to reverse the polarity on the low beam input on the harness but other than that install was easy.
Fired them up and was immediately underwhelmed. Not very bright, and very blue. Definitely not 5000k, more like 6500k-7000k. That bad. Went for a cruise and was not comfortable driving. Already took them back out and put the stock bulbs back in. Returning them and ordering a higher quality kit.
I wasn't expecting much for such a cheap price, but thought there'd be a chance they'd be decent. Hope this helps anyone out.
