AAL vs Dakar?

whats the diff? worth the price diff?

if needed...installing the reg 3" OME kit you see everyone talk about, 9000 shocks and 885s, rear OME N182 shocks etc...

oh...do you need brake line extenders for this set up?

 

1st-Generally if you have a 3" lift and you off-road extended brake lines are a good idea.

2-As far as shocks go, it just depends on what kind of ride you want and what you want to spend. The Bilsteins are the best bang for your buck IMHO.

3-I have the TSB springs with AAL and could not be happier. It just depends on what you want to spend, what kind of ride you are looking for, and how abusive you are to them. Do the research on each type you are interested in and choose then.

 

An AAL is just an additional leaf in your existing pack..The Dakar pack is a complete replacement with like 7 or 8 leaves. Different spring rates and feel. The OME shocks are built/tested with the Dakar packs...so they will go together nicely. If you have the extra coin-I would totally recommend the Dakars with some good bushings.

You will want extended brake lines if you go offroad- The extra height from the lift and flex travel will stress your stock lines alot.

I think you would be better served replacing the factory GARBAGE!!
I am replacing with the dakar full leaf pack and the XL overload leaf.
With 3.25" up front and the dakars in the rear I am replacing both front and rear brakelines with extended length braided lines. Just my 2 cents!!

Anything worth doing is worth doing right the FIRST time...????

 

i may be mistaken, but i think i read somewhere that since the dakar packs are designed with off roading in mind, they are not as good for hauling and towing as an aal would be...but they are far superior off road becasue of that

 

NOT true!
They are made for hauling because they have two overload springs.

It's packs like ALCAN's, etc that are more for just off roading...

 

Go with the full pack. The stock springs sag pretty bad if you carry any weight, I've got a 1.5" aal from when I put my ome lift on and recently had to had a 1.5" block to level out the truck once again because the stock leafs are so terrible.

I just got some of these leafs from you guys to compliment my toytec ultimate lift kit. My question is that right now on the rears I have the AAL for the non-tsb leafs - how much higher is the full dakar leaf packs in comparison ?

 

Probably about .5 inches.

awesome thanks ! with my toytec's cranked to a 3.5" lift on the front its perfectly level but i could use that .5 rake height because if i load anything in the truck it looks funny. Not too mention with my blower and lead foot the front of the truck is usually up in the air
