like the miserable cunt @over60 (kidding don't be too grumpy now lol) said just get a full set of snows.

Otherwise maybe @Aussiek2000 could give you some input on the ST Maxx, he used to run them and dealt with some decent snow wherever the fuck he is down south.

Full set of winters will be best bet for good ice traction other than getting chains (which I'm not sure about your local laws on chains)

@over60 has a lot of good advice here on TW. I respect him, you should too.

Same for @Aussiek2000 , good member too.

A little respect is warranted. Sorry, you're coming across a little aggressive.

Ya didn't think he'd take me serious I've joked around with him about that before because the title under his name is grumpy old guy.
Thought he'd know I was joking. Didn't actually mean to offend him. He is a good guy I've talked to him before, that's why I'm surprised he didn't realize I was joking. Feel bad now.

Overrated. Had mine close to a year with hardly any issues. Yes, tranny was low and I'll get the update next month, but other than that, no other issues. Enjoy your truck, it was a good purchase and you'll be happy with it.

mentioned the low trans to the dealer I'm getting mine from, said they are aware of it and are checking every model that comes in.

Had mine a year. Never been back to the dealer modified it a lot and off-roaded just as much.

I heard since June/July, not exactly sure when, that they have corrected that issue and are filled properly now. Of course could just be rumour, but you would think it would be a lot cheaper for Toyota to do it properly in the factory versus $100/hr mechanics. I still think it is the tranny cooler taking the extra oil that wasn't planned on from Aisin, but only a theory. Seems to only be on tow packages, but IDK.

Maybe. When I ordered mine though I told them I have a few things I want done before I take delivery that should be done during inspection from dealer anyways.
Check u bolts, check zerks and check transmission fluid.
Told them these are all things being reported as problems. Dealer was very understanding with my concerns so all good. Glad I went to the dealer I ended up getting it from. They are more in the country and out of the city, lot was full of tundras and tacomas, vs all the other dealers I went to were just camry and corolla. Went to a dealer that dealt with more truck sales so they actually knew about the problems since they sell a lot more trucks compared to the other dealers.

Don't feel too bad Joe. You said you were kidding in your original post, so it was clear, and you have also since apologized. Maybe he really is "Grumpy" haha. Not saying we shouldn't respect all here, but we should be able to poke a little fun too.

Wise decision. Mine knew nothing on the Tacoma compared to me, but the salesman. He had orientation meeting the following week from Toyota on the Tacoma, so I don't fault him. Don't really care about what the salesman says anyways, it's all about doing your own homework before purchase. I have an excellent service dept, THAT matters.

Agreed 100%. But some things shouldn't be said that have offensive overtones. Call me out on whatever you want, I'm ok with that but not personal shots, that's what gets you banned. Trust me on that. As Canadians we tend to be a lot more sarcastic up here (IMO), so am I, not so much some other places. So if you want to stay safe, don't call anyone names, even if jokingly. Example, wifey is from BC, sarcasm is not present with her, me originally from Quebec, I am very sarcastic. She gets mad at my jokes which tend to be very dry. I have learned to adapt. I get what @Joe23 was doing, but others would not.

Yep and at the same time text is text we can only assume whether it's sarcasm or serious. Tried to make it clear I was being sarcastic. But guess that didn't work. Considering I've talked to him a few times private and have joked the same way didn't think it bothered him. Had I known, wouldn't have continued to joke about it.

Ya, don't feel too bad. Over60 has had his moments, as have we all. He's attacked at times, and I'm no angel either, so no worries man. I don't disrespect you or anybody else on here, we all have those moments when we are joking and the other person feels offended or we say things out of context and the other person takes the meaning wrong. Ultimately, we are here as a group with a common interest and bond.

Can we keep the gossip to the PM's? Lol let's bring this back on topic.

I'm also for winters, I am taking delivery of mine with Blizzaks mounted, they offered $900 installed which is a bit cheaper than Costco. There is also a bridgestone rebate on right now for $70 off a set of tires. Going to be looking for a set of take offs of stock rims and pick those up for the summer so I have matching sets.
