If I had known better I would have gone with this same tent vs buying the more expensive and smaller CVT I have. I've seen the same tent you have in person and the quality is very similar.

looking over other tents i don't really see a difference in fabric. All my seams are taped fully shut and we had 40+ MPH wind gusts this night and the tent (WHILE VERY LOUD) took all the wind just fine. The bigger names do have thicker aluminum poles for support is what i hear.

Is that an XL on a short bed? Any chance you've got pics of it folded and packed?

it sure is, and i sure do

Keep in mind that the rack setup is, WAS just a temp solution so i can get to moab and research areas this weekend. The bars will be coming off and i have a full bed rack currently being built to house the tent of this size. I slept towards the cab and it was just me so nothing was in the 30% unsupported section the entire weekend. Once my bed rack is built it will come all the way to the tail gate and then I'm thinking of adding another support, basically flipping one of these cross bars on its side and welding it to the back of the rack so the entire tent will be supported.

Interesting. Will your new rack be tall enough that you could go the other way? Could you line up the back of the RTT with the tailgate and run the fore end over the cab?

Im making the top of the rack just above the window line in the back of the cab. It only overhangs 16" from the tailgate. I just couldn't see myself using the smaller tents with family so i went with the king sized palace :D

Anyone run An HEO tent or know anything about them? Going to look at one tomorrow, the company is local to me but I haven't heard of anyone who's had one for more than a year or so.

Not trying to fool anyone. ;) I understand the reason behind the rainfly design. I'm sure it helps keep the entrance more protected from rain etc, but is does catch the wind.

That's a tall inch for the ladder. :) Besides, I'm not criticizing anything, just pointing out differences.

I stand by my original statement. I like my CVT a lot more than my old Tepui.

It feels like the quality is much higher too (could just be me), but I'm sold on CVT. :)

No, they don't squeak.... but they do have a "crackling" sound to them which isn't very loud. It doesn't really bother me. I would hate squeaking.

I've found the DMZ pack does pretty well with a Tepui :anonymous:
