    Hey guys,

Just looking for some input and see if anyone else has experienced this, see pictures. I've already had the dealer evaluate it, but their current plan is to just replace the rear light fixture (2 week lead time) where they think the water is coming in. I live in Florida and it rains A LOT not to mention Hurricane Matthew week before last.... Now though I've noticed water damage to the back seat and head liner and believe they are liable to replace the rear light, back seat, and headliner. I've got 13000 miles on it so all should be covered under warranty. Any chance they buy it back and replace the truck completely? No idea what warrants that, but this is a giant pain in the ass.

Unacceptable. Return it back to back to where you bought it...

Let's be reasonable here. The whole truck doesn't need to be replaced and being water alone, as long as it dries out quickly, won't mold. I'd be hesistant to call it water 'damage' unless it leaves behind a stain or does in fact mold. If it does, just have them replace the seats. I doubt the headliner will have an issue.

It's got 13,000 miles on it so they're not going to just swap out the truck. let's come back to reality.

That should NOT be happening. Document it, save the photos. I'd be demanding new upholstery, new rear light w/ new seals, hell you might even need new carpet at this point. That shit is unacceptable for a new vehicle.

That car will never dry in the Florida humidity AND mold takes 1 day to start growing

Good luck on the buyback, it probably won't happen. It can be dried, but it won't be easy. I wonder if the dealership has a paint drying booth they can stick it in and keep it hot for a few hours? I'm not even sure if they use those anymore. 30 minutes in the Texas sun in August would do the trick.

Truck needs replacing because no one buys a new truck and have one rain day Fucken drench the back seat and headliner, that's stupid what if you bought a boat and the exhaust fumes started to leak into the cabin and they just fixed it your cabin will forever smell like exhaust same with water damage your trucks going to always have a weird smell now, and not to mention mold I mean people say you can take care of the mold but that's just not practical you shouldn't have to worrie about mold in a brand new truck!

Thanks for all the replies and links to mold sites. I sent an email to the service manager and his boss last night just to document that, yes, they've seen all these photos and specifically requested they should replace the seat, headliner, and rear light- haven't heard back yet. I have two small kids so mold growth is a serious concern. I'm wondering what should I do if they try to weasel out of replacing the seat...also note the overhead photo of the rear seat is actually completely dry and stain has come through...

Not to mention the only reason I even discovered the leak was because I happened to be parked and in the truck during a rain event and watched it rain down out of the headliner. I'm guessing this has actually been happening since I bought the vehicle in March and just didn't know it. Periodically I would smell mildew and couldn't figure out why...now I know!

Well, back here in the real world, when there's a problem with a vehicle, the service department gets a chance to replace damaged parts including seats, carpet, headliner, etc. first before vehicles that have been driven for a year and have 13,000 miles on them just get swapped out. Let's try to set some proper expectations instead of sounding like a crazy person. I'd hate to be your service adviser.

That's insane. At a minimum they have to replace the rear seats, headliner, floor carpet, seat belts, the top light, and absolutely anything else touched by water. Doubt it'll happen, but I hope they replace the truck for you. Mold is a health hazard and I wouldn't want to drive that truck around for years.

I would expect them to replace anything that has damage, I would not expect them to replace the truck. That being said, what's your states lemon laws? Start there if you really want to push for a buy back.

If you are worried about the mold, I would assume they can strip the cab and ensure there is no mold, then replace whats been damaged.

Easy on the pitch forks folks.

OP, besides the obvious parts to be replaced, I would demand them to replace the entire carpet and rear door panels as well. Water will get into things that you don't even know existed. 99% sure it made its way to the carpet. The mildew/mold you smell wont' go away until you replace everything that was/possibly afftected
