Oddly enough, when I was shopping for my SR w/convenience package ... all I could find were 4x4 w/ utility package in my area. Tons of them in every available color. Most were AT, which I thought was pretty odd.

They allocated mine from a Washington state dealership supposedly... Couldnt find one in the northeast at all. And then I waited 2-3 months for it. Wanted an all black one originally, but settled for the MGM, because thats all i could get.

I've seen a handful if utility Tacomas @ my local dealership, but they are always 4x2 auto's. I had to order mine. They couldn't find another one within 500 miles of Albany NY.

The dealership couldn't seem to sell mine. It had 200 miles by the time I got to it. I have kept an eye on their stock since and they haven't brought in a single 4 cylinder even let alone a 4x4 with the utility package. They must have trouble moving them around here.

Thanks. They're 38lbs. The wheels are an astonishing 23lbs. I was shooting for a really lightweight setup. And, even though on paper I was shedding a TON of unsprung weight compared to the stock 32lb steelies/34lb tires, my mileage went down by 20%. The braking is hurt too in my opinion. There's not enough meat width on the tires to get a full purchase on the pavement, so I lock the brakes when I really shouldn't be. I wouldn't recommend this setup honestly. Maybe it's just the tires, and not the size, but I won't be repeating this.

Anyone who wants to buy my tires (10k miles on em), let me know! lol

I picked up my 2017 Tacoma SR a week and a half ago. Love it! I'll be getting new wheels and tires soon. Loving your truck

It's just so fucking crazy seeing ones just like mine. All I've seen are double cabs that are nice and loaded with a handful of AC SR5s. But SR 5spd 2.7? It's so fucking crazy seeing other ones!

Well what tires do you think would have benefited from the weight reduction and actually see MPG improvement instead of loss?

I'm literally on the fence on a 2.7L 4x4 5MT and wanted to throw 17" TRD Pro Rims and probably put 245/70/17.

Just would hate to see any MPG shaved off, and actually hope I'd get an improvement over stock set up.

Anyone have any personal experience with this besides OP?

If you had it to do over would you maybe have got a smaller tire like what comes on the TRD OR models 265/75R16 ... do you have any rubbing with the ones on there with your stock suspension?
I have the 2.7 SR5 auto and it came with 245/70R16 and id like to get some 265/75R16 and new wheels

If it makes you feel any better, you're the only one with balls big enough to run 285's on a 4cyl SR..

 No I was unawares.. Damn.. I would concur that a regear is warranted. Well I can't wait to see it.

I have absolutely no rubbing. Because they're are 17s, I have to frame your question differently. If I had 16s, i'd only consider 265/75 or 265/70. I'd strongly consider you check out the 16" optional gunmetal tacoma wheels. You can snag them on ebay and they're gorgeous, and only 24lbs (steelies are 32lbs). FN wheels also makes a 16" wheel that's 20lbs and incredibly strong!

It's no only the size in my case, but the tread type. The Dynapro ATMs are very aggressive and very sticky. Great for everything except efficiency. 245/70 is going to look too dinky in my opinion, but 245/75/17 could work. You certainly won't have an issue if you do a normal highway tire either. The 17" Toyota TRD OE wheels are 28lbs I believe, and FN wheels makes a matching version that's one inch wider and 3lbs lighter. Check them out.

Haha yep... I do marketing and photography. Cheapest truck on here and probably one of most expensive camera setups haha
