So for the members on here that have a 2.7, since the 2.7 doesnt have the factory option of a tow package, is there an oem hitch, wiring harness, and pin connector for the spot in the bumper?

I need to order these parts asap.

    Thank you all!

The pollak 4/7 pin connector fits in the spot in the bumper. There is a wiring harness that goes with it as well. Comes with all the crimps and everything you need. I'll see if I can get the part numbers but I'm on mobile.

On a different note has anyone lifted there 2.7 SR

Ive been looking into a few different options.

#1) Full old man emu kit with 888x springs and dakars

#2) Maxtrac spindles with 5100's @ .85 up front and HS 3 pack add a leaf w/ extended 5100s and extended brake lines for the rear

#3) Bilstein 6112's up front and 5160's in the rear with HS 3 pack add a leaf

I already have 285 75 16s mounted up sitting in the garage just need the lift!

The 3.5 does not do well with stock gearing and 33"s by any means. 6th gear is useless on even the smallest incline or trying to keep speed with a headwind. 5th is only marginally useful depending on road conditions. I'll be going by 4.88 with my 2016 automatic 3.5

Question for you 2.7 guys. Why did you choose the 4 over the 6 when the 6 makes a good bit more power at about the same fuel economy? Was it just a price point or are there other reasons?

Anyone have a double cab with non-tinted glass and a non-tinted solid rear glass? I wanna change my TRD Off-road to a non-tinted glass.

Or if any of you have a solid rear glass that is tinted, I would be very interested.

I need to supply my dealer with a VIN with these specifications to order the correct part, unless you are local and just wanna swap it out. ;)

I'm also on 33"s and stock gearing. I was getting 21-22 before that and was able to get out of my own way. There's a big difference between the 2.7 and 3.5

Couple things. Price point, for one. Wanted an access cab with a manual, which made the choice between an SR 2.7 and a TRD Sport 3.5 with a hefty premium. Second, the mpg difference is significant. Personally, I'm at 23.9 mpg average, always getting over 24 on my commutes. Third, the bulletproof legacy of the 2TR-FE was attractive, we'll see how that holds up.

EDIT - I'd have my fuelly in the sig, except I screwed up the signup through the app and can't figure out the login. Oh well.

Fair enough! I see a lot of 3.5L folks here getting 16-18 mpgs on the stock ride!

All depends on how you drive it. I'm sure I could improve on my 16.7 if I drove it easier. By no means do I abuse my truck but I'm not a grandmother either. I also only have 2100 miles on it and only about 900 since the transmission TSB flash. I do expect it to get better over time and expect 21+ after the regear. I only know one guy that did the regear and he went from 16.5 to 21.5 after a single tank of gas. Proper gearing makes a big difference.

Stock for stock the 2.7 and 3.5 driven the same way will both get 22-24 MPG. May have to baby the 3.5 a little more but it's worth it. Now the price difference between a TRD and an SR is not worth it, I agree 100% there. I also don't like the push start which is standard above the SR5

The 4 banger was unproven at one time also. Doesn't concern me, that's what warranty, lemon laws, and class action lawsuits are for. Honestly though, I have enough faith in Toyota to figure it'll last just as long as every other engine they've produced.

i got the 2.7 for a few reasons. I bought one of the first 3.5s in the Houston Tx area, i put just over 18k miles when i sold it and i had problems. My gas milage was a constant 21-22, i was impressed! but i had the usual transmission problems, my rear end was already leaking and showing sign of premature failure. And like some other have said on here the 2.7 is a proven engine. I got my sr double cab 2.7 for exactly $26k out the door i paid $34.5k out the door for my 3.5 sr5 tss prerunner, and for almost a $10k difference in price there is not that big of a difference in the trucks. Honestly i like my little 2.7 better and i can't wait to modify it and see how many miles i can put on her before passing her on to my future children.
