I didn't say that KBB doesn't mean anything at all, and NADA is different btw. NADA is more realistic as it gets its figure by factoring in what people are actually paying for these vehicles. NADA is something I'd take into account more than KBB with these trucks, depending on the region they're being sold.

^^ my point exactly. Just because KBB values it at 6500 doesn't necessarily mean anything.

If KBB and Nada were true I could trade my truck in for more then I paid for it. Ive had a few Evos and Nada/kbb is like 7500-10k when they are selling for 15-25k. Cant exactly go buy that truck from the dealer, if you like it enough you will pay for it. Id offer him book value and see how the conversation goes, be polite and ask why he wants so much for it.

I wouldn't sell it for blue book. It will sell at very close to that price.

I love the purple. Like I said in my OP that it made me miss my purple '97 4 banger 4x4. I have no need for the rear locker but just browsing for 1st gen nice tacomas to have as a reliable beater to get from A to B and I stumbled across this. It's always a would you rather with me. I love my 2016 Sport 4x4 6speed. I'd also love to have a 4 banger 1st gen to save miles on my 16.

If it was mint the guy might get his price. I'm guessing it's average and I get a bad intuition about his story. I wouldn't touch it. Also, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but that colour is not a classic unless you're into Prince.

I know a lot of guys don't care, but the other big factor in purchasing old vehicles is that they're obsolete in terms of air bags. I love old vehicles, they're cool, but I'd never drive one personally. I drove all the classics back in the day, but back then roads were slower and times were different. For one thing there was no choice, air bags didn't exist. But now they do and at the high speeds of modern roadways why not have as many air bags as you can get? I was in a very serious accident in 2005 and once you've had that experience you have a different outlook on safety.

NADA and KBB say a lot of things. The 85 in my Avatar was claimed to be worth $1450 when I sold it. I sold it for a lot more money than that.

Why would anyone take less money for something when the market shows you can get more? I did have a Mr Rodgers type come and look at it when I was selling and he did babble about NADA this NADA that. I wished him luck in his search, because NADA don't know NADA

I could probably sell my 03 with 148k miles for 16.5K in SF. If the underside of that thing is clean and regularly maintained, he could probably get north of 12K for it. Don't Gen 1's hold their value the best?

Maybe just my lousy eye-sight, but his tire looks unevenly worn in his picture. It looks like it is starting to cup on the outer edge.
