Funny you mention your going alone thread, good stuff! I go out by myself nearly every weekend and planning a solo run through a part of the High Sierra's and a part of Death Valley for this up coming weekend since it's a 3 day for me..

    Jesus who ?.. :dunno:

    I have 3 - 30ft recovery straps, a winch with 150 ft synth. rope.
plus another synth. winch rope ext. of another 150 ft.
And that's just the beginning of my recovery hardware on board.

But like Mxpatriot said... probably better enlist Jesus if ya don't have any support.

btw... only the straps and winch ensure that I'll be leaving any given trail.
Jesus nor anyone else has much to say of the matter.

I may have gotten lucky a few times...
but never once was there any divine intervention.

    Am I grumpy ? maybe
    but I'll bet everyone IDGAS

Couple flat tires with sidewall slashes were the undoing of my solo trips in the past. Now I like going with friends , and it helps if they are driving Toyotas too.

I had straps. 2 actually. When Tom asked for one I handed him the one with hooks. He didn't like that. Not sure why people think we didnt have gear.

Always smart to run a trail with at least one other rig.
Maybe several if you need borrow tires !? Lol

Because a strap with hooks doesn't belong anywhere near an offroad vehicle.

Toss that sucker in the trash, or the wife's Honda Accord, or something like that.

If you're gonna have a HAM, get a license!!! :annoyed: Now here comes the :crapstorm::crapstorm::crapstorm: of the century for me, LMAO!!!:rofl::rofl:

I'm just saying this with regards to the "spotty" coverage of cell phones and such that went on?! Finally, why get a HAM if you can't connect to a repeater for use? Your HAM radio is gonna get about as much distance as a CB anyways at that point? So why bother with HAM in the first place... is it a cool thing or something? Again, just say'n people :notsure: Also, just as an example, when I was up in Big Bear, someone had asked if to go to VHF, when they were already ON "VHF"???!!!:frusty: They don't even KNOW what they're even talking about, LOL!!! Those that know me already, I'm pretty sure I can say that they know that I mean well when I say these things.

There, see, no "Wall of Randy" this time around... well, sorta, LOL.

Either way, @Redfive11 Steve, I must say that I really am glad that you made it out and hope I didn't post anything inappropriate??? Not cool to be duped, that's for sure!!! Btw, just for the record, I only wanted to see pictures just to see the "situation that was at hand" other than just saying "stuck", if you get my meaning. Other than that, I obviously know that that is NOT the first thing on anyones mind although it would have given that much more "mad props" towards @MonkeyProof and the rest of the recovery crew that was involved with pictures of people helping each other out!!! So, just say'n man.:thumbsup::fistbump::cheers::mudding:

    all,
it was great that you were able to call, test and post on TW, but if you had no service this could have been bad. no internet no cellm you need something like this. https://www.amazon.com/SPOT-Gen3-Satellite-GPS-Messenger/dp/B00GPCBYGQ glad things worked out and good job to those that coordinated the rescue.. I think the tracker is on my short list. again good job and glad all worked out

    Buy an InReach.

Same investment, better coverage, way better features.

When I used to take a seedoo offshore I used a spot. It was awesome to track out position but it only had a way to call the coast guard in case of emergency. Has that changed? There is no 2wqy communication right?
