    New Tacoma owner here. Is there a lock made (other than the hose clamp) for securing my tailgate?
    I also have a 2014 Ford superduty with a Masterlock on the hinge pivot, in addition to the tailgate lock, which can be punched out.
    Thanks
    Dave

    @Unchained 5150 That's not the lock he's talking about

    @bigpondonly I've seen reference to a McGard lock being usable, but I'm unsure of the specific model. If you search here for McGard you should find the thread with the info.

    Ah figured if it was a lockable tailgate you wouldn't something like that.

    Not everyone remembers to lock their tailgate... The power lock isn't standard.

    Whether it makes sense depends on one's situation; I have no need for such a thing but that doesn't mean others don't.

    Yes, the latch mechanism does lock with a key. But bad guys quickly pop that lock and lift off the gate, as I had happen with the FORD. Maybe the 2017 is still too new to have a vendor list a lock. I tried lifting it off, it wouldn't budge. There appears to be some sort of plastic pin that locates it on. Thanks for all the replies.

    We have the Gate Defender which is meant to be the back up security to your tailgate lock security. As pointed out, some people will still forget to lock their truck even if one is on it. It takes less than 20 sec to steel a tailgate and then you are left with $1000+ ticket to replace it. We were at SEMA last year and a guy told us his stolen Raptor tailgate cost him $6000 to replace!!!
