What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Thanks man! For a split second I thought the trim pc just snapped off, because it looked like it had clips, so I pushed one and it broke. FML. Then realized that the black "mesh" pc actually clips/unsnaps off, so took that off. Have some plastic sheets from when I put down pergo flooring a while back, so basically wrapped the door in that, made a hole with the tweeter is, then with the painters tape cut small pcs and little by little got then in the "crack" in between the ring and the door panel. Hope that made sense.

Guess we'll see how it works out when I'm done!

Makes perfect sense to me man. I would definitely try to apply all your paint tonight and let it dry all day tomorrow. Since it's not plasti dip it should naturally separate itself once all the coats dry. To finish projects the right way I've went without door panels, grills, tailgate lol. At the base gate the gate guards know me because my truck always has something missing for a project lol

 

LOL. So far I only have the passenger's door panel out. Want to see how it goes before I attempt the driver's side. Only thing that "worries" me is if somehow a bit of paint gets on the door panel itself... Then I'll have to try and figure out a way to get it off.

 

Tweeter ring coming out crappy. Got a bit of paint on the door panel, so in an attempt to clean it off, getting paint off the ring, and it's all cracking and chipping. FML.

Gonna have to try something different... Or just break them off and then glue them back on.

 

Have you thought about wrapping them in matte black vinyl?

 

Not really to be honest. I've read about peeps doing that, but never really looked into it, and figured I'd try the painting approach first.

 

No clue. I just happened to stumble across a thread somewhere on here where a few people chopped it and they said it helped.

 

Ordered new tires. Did I need them? nope. But, the Falken Wildpeaks ATW3 have peaked my interest for a while and the $100 off on ebay was too good to pass up. You only live once, right?

 

So I ended up doing what @nazlax10 did for the tweeter rings, and basically broke them off. He told me how he did it, so I did the same thing.

Took a razor blade to it, cut where the glue spots are, and bam, it came off. Also slapped a coat of paint to it before heading out for work this morning. Will put on another later when I get home, and hopefully tonight I'll glue it back on, maybe with some Gorilla glue, and put the door panel back on. If all goes well, and I do it quickly, will attempt at doing the driver's door as well later.

 

I got my CB installed over the weekend, pretty happy with the outcome even though I couldn't mount the unit where I originally wanted. I went with the Uniden Bearcat 980SSB with their wireless mic and a 5ft firestik antenna.

 

Took her camping at the lake and caught this huge bass!
