That seems like an awful lot for an amp/sub. Audiophiles will have to guide you on specifics but from building a bunch of systems simplicity has always given me the best sound.

I was a big system guy once upon a time but I have to say, I'm honestly impressed with what the stock system sounds like. Not sure if it's because I am in a 4 door or what but it seems to have just enough bump and volume/clarity seems to be decent. I even threw a little Bass Boy at it just to mess around and was pleasantly surprised lol. I could see where people would want to upgrade some things but I don't see spending $1k - $2k on a truck system.

Yeah, I'm coming from a 2003 Frontier and the stock stereo on this truck (at least on TRD, unsure if different on SR/SR5) is more than adequate with the speakers having plenty of punch, volume and clarity. I'm sure having terrible quality in the frontier has something to do with it, though.

I have ordered All JL replacement speakers and AMP from Crutchfield for $660 including wiring, adapters, tax, etc. I had a JL setup in my last truck and loved it. Will get it installed next week. Going to see how this sounds before consider any type of sub. Pretty much everything I've seen requires the back plastic to be removed. The factory non-Jbl sound is pretty good by itself, so I think I'll probably just stick with the speakers and amp.

My 8" single premade JL sub fits when removing the larger plastic piece on the passenger side(2017 double cab). Just traded my F150 in for it and waiting on the wiring kit now.

Crutchfield.com has always steered me straight. You can call and talk to an advisor, or chat online. They really know their stuff.

I had 2 pairs of the t2 components about 3 years ago and those were the best speakers I've ever had. Got extremely loud and kept their clarity no matter how much power I gave them. Had them at 150 watts with no issue. Only thing is when I bought them, we were able to get Rockford products for about half the price of now. I really don't know what the company did but now we have to pay full price no matter where we order from. I got mines for 200 then now the same ones are like 380

Has anyone installed a simple four channel amp for the factory door speakers? I think the speakers sound decent stock and an amp would really help them out. I was looking at something simple such as an alpine power pack, but I'm not sure how intensive the install would be. If anyone with come experience can help me out that'd be great

I just had these installed and they SUCKED. Much worse than the factory. The installer said They only way to get decent base is 6x9's and JL quality has dropped. Returning these for Kickers.

Kickers are worse. They are all plastic. Try Rockford Fosgate or Alpine. I haven't had anything issues with those brands.

If you do need them, crutch field usually sends them for no additional charge. That is a great company to buy from.

    Your installer is an idiot.
