It's been a little over 2 weeks since mine was done, I'm seeing an almost 2mpg gain in highway driving. Took a 150 mile trip each way yesterday and got 25.4mpg.

Can someone explain to me how this works? Do I just call the dealer and tell them I want this TSB done or do I need to complain that I'm having specific problems that the TSB fixes in order for them to actually do the TSB?

You need to explain that your truck is doing something that the TSB addresses then usually it helps to bring the TSB with you and mention that it might help. If being nice doesn't work then you may have to escalate to the service manager or corporate but most people have had it applied with no problems at this stage.

I ended up checking the fluid myself, about 1/2 qt low. Topped it up and reset the battery. It now doesn't get stuck in 4th gear like it did before. The only time it does get stuck in 4th is when it should because I need a little more power to keep moving. I'm thinking the gearing is going to help out with that.

With the TSB I'm getting on average 17. My Tundra got that. Ok, my rant is done.

1300 miles after the tsb, it's back to shifting straight to 6th gear and lugging up hills.

I have nearly 5,000 miles since they put a 1/2 quart of transmission fluid and did my TSB. Still good. I do get one flare shift a day. In the morning the first 1-2 shift is a flare . After that I have no problems.

Has anyone had the valvebody problem solved ? I was more leaning to software. I start and stop and drive off-road a lot and my only flare is first shift of the day.

There was a company called Sonnax that solved the valve body issue in the previous gen Aisin transmissions. I am getting a new transmission, tomorrow, due to the flair. We will see if Toyota fixed it... To be continued...

I traded my 2015 Ram 3500 in because the Aisin was crap. I think I'm cursed. Thanks for the information.

Brad, congratulations on your new transmission. What malfunction occurred with your transmission causing Toyota to install a new transmission? Rebuilt , re manufactured or a new replacement unit ? Whatever the case , perhaps Toyota has stumbled upon the real issue with the Tacoma transmission and the permanent fix is in the works. Let's face the issue,Tacoma is exhausted with fielding calls with complaints with shifting issues, I am sure they would like to put all concerted efforts to costly safety issues. Come on Toyota , we are rooting for fix, but your minions will not always be so faithful should you turn your corporate backs to 2016 Tacoma issues.

It seems I must be one of the only people with a 2016 tacoma (built 10/15) that actually functions as one would expect. I had the transmission fluid checked and topped off (.6 low) this spring. A week after this TSB was released I had it applied and it's driven like a completely different truck since. I've got over 6,000 miles on the truck since the TSB was applied and it has continued to perform - it has not gone back to the pre-TSB days.

Hi Mikey, I will be getting a new, mass production transmission and torque converter. The malfunction was a flare shift from 3rd-4th gear. Yes, Toyota knows the real issue. There are valve body leak down problems with many, if not all, of the Aisin AC60F transmissions.

Well that sucks, but good for you! So next for us Tacoma's 2016 owners is a new transmission? That's a lot of transmissions! Gear up Toyota!

Brad, I am thrilled for you, you are getting what you signed on for, a properly performing automatic transmission. May I ask of you, what chain of events and eventual contact points may in order to facilitate the acquisition of a new transmission. Dealer or factory field rep. Diagnosis ? Based on valve body leak down issue it appears valve body replacement will not correct transmission issues, wow , this could be costly for Toyota, if all this plays out as to correction of your trans. Issue, then Toyota's denial and failure to acknowledge issues will surely affect buyer confidence in the future. Thanks for your input, Mikey
