Probably already said but different amounts sometimes warrant different rates. Crappy way of doing business.

I know its a bit of a drive for you but McCords Vancouver Toyota gave me the best deal on my trade out of anyone in the Portland area and have great service. Check Local credit union rates before applying obviously.

The Pro might be higher interest depending on the amount borrowed and your credit standing. Its a numbers game. But most of the time the your interest rate should be the same since the price difference is so minimal. Also no many pros around here so dealer will not move on pricing. I would have bought a pro if it had JBL lol

Ya man I'm kind of disappointed in the tundras sound system honestly. I think my 2007 Tacoma sr5 sounds better and is louder by far!

Toyota of kirkland, the guy who sold me the truck was cool, Im just overly sensitive about people asking about my finances after going through some pain in the ass dealerships in the past. They have a good stock at kirkland and he said there gonna get two trd pros in and one is already spoken for so you could jump on the other one possibly.

Toyota offered me 5% rate with 10k down through their loan and my local credit union offered 1.9% with 10k down. Definitely shop around.

I have found that credit unions typically offer the better financing and overall better banking experience.

I hate finance guys more than sales people. There is absolutely no reason why they should charge you more for a Pro. That is unless due to your credit rating you hit some kind of threshold. Even then a bigger down payment would offset it. When I bought my 2013 Tacoma the finance guy almost ruined the deal. Sales director was pissed and straightened it out when I told him I wanted my trade back and was going to turn in the keys for the 2013.

Recommend you forget the 'rewarding yourself' and keep up the cash mentality.

Buy what you can afford, keep saving for the next move up.

I don't care what people say, debt is the enemy.

If you proceed, at least follow the advise of others and shop around, and get something committed in terms of $ and rate.

Always remember, the salesman is not your friend. Not your enemy either, but he has a job to do and his own mouths to feed. Nothing that helps you helps him, unless it concludes a sale for him.

As far as the pro goes, it's just an over priced Tacoma with a couple of unique color options. Everything else can be added after if you have a burn for those trinkets. Their markup is only because there are people who will pay to be first on their block. And they know it.

You should have said that debt can be the enemy. That is if you live above your means. Every once in a while I think about paying off my Tacoma early and then I think why would I do that @ 1.29%. I can earn a dividend of 4%+ on certain stocks. I use a rewards credit card and put everything I can on it. I tried to put my house payment on but my mortgage company will not do it. I will put as much of my next truck down payment on it as possible. I pay it off monthly and earn annual rewards of $600 - $800.

I won't make this TOO long and go into too much detail, I could probably write a book on this but don't feel like typing :)

NEVER finance through the dealer. Most people have absolutely NO IDEA how much money the dealers make through their finance department, and how much better of a deal you could get by getting your own financing.

Dealers always play the "what do you want your monthly payment to be" game. At that point you're not talking about the price of a vehicle. You're talking about monthly payment, which gives them a LOT of "wiggle room" to be able to play with different interest rates and even change the bottom line price of the vehicle (usually not in your favor). Most people, as long as that "monthly payment figure" is close to what they were hoping for, they don't care or even look to see that they're paying a lot more for the vehicle than they should have. I could go on endlessly about the games they play between financing, their extended warranty packages, etc and make a fortune. Dealers don't make much money off of new car sales, the margin just isn't there. They make their money off of the games they play to get you into that "sweet monthly payment".

The best thing you could do for yourself is visit your local bank or credit union. Apply for financing and tell them what you're looking for. Most credit unions (especially the smaller local ones) will basically tell you that you're approved for XXX at XXX interest rate. For example, they'll say they've approved you for $60,000 at 1.9% interest rate on the vehicle you're looking for. They'll basically cut you a blank check, you go out and find the truck you want. You make the deal as a "Cash deal" because you're not interested in the dealer's financing. This gives YOU the upper hand. If they've got the truck you want on the lot for $46k and you go through THEIR financing, you could easily be over 50k plus when you leave. If you get your own financing, you're negotiating based on that $46k sticker. This gives you, the customer, the power. For example, at this point you could offer 42k for the truck But if they try and play the back and forth with the sales manager, that starts to turn the power back to them. I would tell the salesman that you'll offer 42k cash deal, and stroke a check right now. But if they have to spend all day going back and forth you walk. And don't hesitate to get up and leave. They WILL stop you, and ultimately they want to sell you the truck.

    Don't play the dealer's games.

I don't mind financing through the dealer when they beat the best rate that I got on my own. That is what happened on my 2013. They ended up screwing themselve when they tried to entice me to buy the warranty with a lower rate. I told them that I would take the rate but not the warranty. Then the crying started.
