I've seen that posted several times, and unsure if it's regurgitated internet folklore or this really happens.

I've asked my local Discount Tire and they do not buy used tires. That's not their business.

Also, they won't mount used tires, much less sell them -- way too much liability.

Same here for my local Discount Tire (America's Tire).

Not sure about mounting used tires, but they don't take used tires towards credit or buy used tires.

My local Discount Tire said they could give me a credit on my new TRDOR tires when I bought the Duratracs from them, but it would only be $50 a tire. I've had them on craigs list at $400 for the set but haven't had any interest in three weeks. I'm in no hurry, I'll eventually lower the price until they sell.

If you post what city and state you live in it would help.

Should have taken the $200 and run. IF they were really low mile tires, I suspect they are reselling to a local used tire shop. Not using themselves.

You may find they move better on CL if you sell them in pairs. For someone looking for a couple replacements. I've sold singles and pairs pretty quickly. Even ones that have been plugged. (not for $50 though)

I've only sold two sets of 4. One was a set of well worn DOT race rubber, one was the set of 215s off my truck. Both sold in less than a day.

My goal is to cover cost of mount/dismount/balance/stems of new tires, while avoiding disposal fees and oddball taxes. So they are priced to move.

Limited wheels, extra rope hooks in bed.
I got $600 for my SR5 wheels and tires....

Personally I would have a hard time giving $400 for a set of used tires, even though they have low miles, unless they are $800 new.

Did you put more information in your Craigslist ad than you put on here....i.e. several photos and a full description of tire size and brand?

I've sold just about everything I've put on Craigslist with a great ad.

Check with a tire shop or off road shop and see who they sell their take off's to, or sell them on craigslist. I sold mine for $375 to a guy that goes to shops and buys their take off's. No idea what he does with them. He was only interested in brand new take off's, not ones that had some miles on them.

I live in Albuquerque and my tires sold at discount tire on my 2015 two months after I had got my truck.
    55 dollars apiece.
