I just bought a 17 Tacoma. I noticed that Toyota only ran the bed rail system on the sides and not the forward side of the bed. I had a friendship with a 14 Tacoma and he said he had the front bed rail. I went to the dealer and tried to get a 14 front bed rail and was advised Toyota does not sell a forward bed rail. Any ideas where I could get one ?

I noticed this as well. My '14 Prerunner had one. Maybe there was little demand

    ...stuff
I was upset that mine was missing one as well. I will pick one up at the first service, hopefully they have them.

Just a FYI, the header rail will not work with the factory bed cover.

This is possibly why they stopped coming standard. A lot of the 16's and 17's are being sold with the cover installed I notice.

The older model year rails will fit, and are available. That's how I got mine.

I ordered mine off of Amazon, Prime shipping no less. Just unscrew the 4 bolts already installed in the bed and install the front rail (I added some Loctite 242 on the bolt threads for good measure). The holes are a perfect match. The only issue I've seen so far is that the top lip of the bed somewhat interferes with installing the rail cleats. Not a show stopper, you just have to be patient with them and they'll go in.

I'm unsure where you heard that, but I'm glad I'd already bought mine before reading your post since the header rail works just fine with my factory bed cover.

I just installed part # PT278-35100-BH on my 2017 DCSB TRD OR with OEM Tonneau. Fits perfectly.

Yep. Amazon, eBay, etc. It's readily available.

I bought it from my local dealer since their discounted price, including tax, was about same total cost as I could get the stuff online after including shipping costs. YMMV of course.

Bought mine off of Amazon. Does anyone know what size the screws are in the bed? Didn't have anything in the tool box that worked so need to grab the right attachment.

@JGreer3 -- I believe they were Torx T30 if I remember correctly. I have an assortment and just grabbed the bit that fit, looked at it after and am pretty sure it said T30.

Yeah, I may or may not. My sense of completeness will probably make me do so even though it'll be hidden by the OEM tonneau most of the time. :D
