Im not going to try and ruin your trip. But we wont go back to Progresso. Carnival itself has been awesome to us so far. Which ship are you going on? We've been on the Triumph, the Magic, and the Freedom. The Magic has been our favorite by far. Next year we'll most likely end up on the Vista.

As far as Progresso. We havent been since 2012 so I dont know what has changed since then. Id do en excursion besides a beach day. Explore the ruins or something if youre into that. The water is lake quality and the beaches are gray sand. Make sure you go with an excursion through Carnival as thats one of the more sketchy areas of Mexico. On the bright side, drinks are cheap and plentiful.

If you guys have any questions id be happy to try and answer them. Also, definitely prepay your gratuity.

Here's how it goes, I've had some wheeling trips this year and she's been asking about taking a vacation. Don't even remember what I did or said apparently I wasnt paying attention. She was upset and hysterical so I said fuck it you want to go on a cruise which I know I will hate pick a cruise and let's go. She was happy so problem solved. As for me I don't want a cruise at all I think it will suck a d I'll get bored. Hopefully Progreso and wherever else we are goi g sucks to prove my point or. Option B, I take up drinking make it my goal to make a drunken fool out of myself to get kicked off and never get let back on again. As for the ship I have no idea the name of it for all I k ow we could be on a life raft headed out there.

I'm told people love it my old boss and I had same hobbies and similarities and he pretty much confirmed I'd hate it. Worst case I have some fun or I can say I told you so and let her get mad again and pick a better trip

I enjoyed the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza but you need to be kind of a history nerd and you'll spend a lot of time on a bus driving through the jungle. It's very much a tourist trap so expect the typical BS - that feeling that it's all a racket that the main excursion company doesn't know anything about, everyone begging for tips, etc. It's odd seeing random 'houses' on the side of the road in the jungle. If you want to do something more outdoorsy and less history, but doesn't leave you feeling like "I could do this back home for less money", there's an excursion that takes you snorkeling through a cavern.

We did the cave tubing in Belize and it was a blast. So far my favorite port has been Grand Cayman though.

Sneak your booze in and just add it to the free sodas.

Don't try putting vodka in your water bottles. They look real hard at those. You get one bottle of wine per person. Buy a cheap bottle of red wine - the darkest glass you can find, with an artificial cork and a slip-on shrink foil wrapper. Carefully slide the foil off, pull the cork out, dump the wine out and fill with liquor of your choice. Push the cork back in, carefully slide the foil back on, heat it up a bit with a blowdryer to re-shrink it. They'll check the alcohol content on the bottle but otherwise they'll be clueless to what's actually in it.

I lived in State-Thomas this summer, just needing a place full time now. Excited to get back!
