    They did. They're called Hybrids.[/QUOTE]

True but they went way beyond the Golf Cart idea and made it too expensive

    Just the basics
You're talking about semi-trucks right? The 55 isn't for pick-ups. Big rig drivers here in cali may stay in the two right lanes but they don't go 55 either. I like when idiots are going slow in the fast lane. Ugh! Or what about joe blow in his moving van cruising in the fast lane. People are incredibly stupid.

If your tach says 2K you might as well be going down the road at highway speeds. Slip it into "N" and see the tach drop below 1K and then you are saving gas, the engine is "now" idling. Not sure how true it is in today's engines but a decade or so ago if you used the engine to slow down as you are doing, it supposedly causes carbon buildup "under" the rings. Not a good thing for longevity.

True when you are sitting still, almost all vehicles with autos will do this, go up in speed a bit when it is slipped into N "while sitting still". You are unloading the engine from the transmission. But if you are moving along at highway speeds and you slip the trans into N and take your foot off the gas, that tach better drop!

Bullshit. Hypermilers are just as a much a danger on the road as someone speeding. I typically do no more than 5mph under the limit and there's no reason why my 10 minute drive to work should take 30 minutes just so smug egotistical moron can "save the environment". Ever try merging onto I-95 behind one of those turds? Merging into 75mph traffic doing 25mph is not a healthy thing.

Nah, I think I'll look into a Warn steel plate bumper and "risk their health and safety" by pushing them into a ditch.

    Exactly!

I'm not leaving for my destination earlier than normal because some jackass likes to turn his car on and off while driving to save some gas and "save the environment". Its stupid.

If you wanna save on gas and the environment, ride your fucking bike to work you inconsiderate pricks. I will not and should not have to plan my day around avoiding you morons.
