I love my Dakars! I always haul stuff. steel, wood, lumber and gear tools etc. They handle the weight great and give me enough lift with the Canopy on there also..
Go with Dakars and don't waist time and money on other lifts..

One thing I still need to do is swap out my front bushings with Poly ones. Get 2 sets of bushings when you order and swap out the front OEM bushings they come with. Mine squeak like crazy sometimes. I have to always spray them with lube..

I broke both of my ToyTec AALs on a 10k mile overland trip, as well as one of my rear Bilstein 5100s. I replaced them with Dakars and Nitrocharger Sports and I'm kicking myself for the money I wasted in the past on inferior parts.

When I say broke, I mean a clean break in both AALs.

I'll just chime in and say that I too had bought an AAL in the beginning. That lasted about 3 months. They do nothing for hauling capacity. I ended up with Allpro standard packs and so far I love them. They're just as smooth as the AAL was and they're able to haul considerably more.

    DCSBFTMFW was absolutely right.

Progressive AAL is a bandaid fix like the single AAL they just last a tad longer. The issue is the garbage leaf packs Toyota puts on these trucks..you are better just ripping them out and going with Dakars.

I had the single AAL and they lasted 3k before it rode like crap and was squatting harder than a mall crawler.

    Dakars FTW!!

Agree. Had my AAL for a year and it's sagging already. Just bought Dakars yesterday.

If you know enough, supposed to be good. They can make you anything you want, lift/weight capacity/travel, etc.

Why would you relocate the shock for a Dakar pack?

Because the pack is capable of more travel than your OE length shocks can handle. You can get an inch or two of both droop and bump by doing a shock relocate and getting longer shocks.

    Okay.

What if I told you, that you can use every millimeter of travel that Dakar pack has to offer with a 11" stroke shock, in the factory location?

Who makes an 11" shock that is about 14" compressed and 25" extended? The OME shocks are roughly 14/24" and I haven't found a 14/25" shock.

    The Bilstein RCD/BE5-B110-T5 Shock

    • Monotube, High Pressure gas shock
    • Extended Length: 27.28"
    • Collapsed Length: 16.34"
    • That is 10.94" of travel, commonly refereed to as an 11" stroke shock.
    Also see,

How I measured for proper bump stop height.

Here is one of my sample photos showing the Dakar at near static condition. Shock can still extend more to allow the springs to go into tension, when axle is pulling on it.

hey guys, I'm thinking of upgrading to the Dakars as well. Do they work with stock shocks or would I have to get the longer B110 - Rear 3-4" Lift Bilstein 5100 Shocks?

You're not getting all the up travel out of the Dakar pack, due to the spacer on the super bump.

    Otherwise I agree completely.

My thoughts, too. Still an extra inch of travel overall compared to using OME shocks. Does anyone know if the Dakars actually bottom out on the stock bump stops?
