Filling those holes will add very little strength. And there is no way the plates will tear through the frame rail. The frame will twist and absorb some of the shock before that will happen. And/or the sliders will make contact with the rockers first and they will absorb some of the impact energy..@Sub-Zero took some nasty hits to his sliders and his frame is intact. @HolyHandGrenade had all the weight of his truck on his one slider on Yellow Jacket and his frame is still intact.

I don't think anyone mentioned attaching them without the plate, that would be crazy

Like I said, I can help but I have to get some of my own shit taken care of for a few weekends. I'm gonna be moving to a different apartment, so that will suck fer sure, and I gotta finish my boat before it gets too cold to paint it. Then I'll have some time to help

It shouldn't lead to frame twisting. I sa photos of people is u bolts. And a guy on t4r welded a tube to the frame. Then slid the rock sliders on and drilled two holes trough the tubes to bolt it.

Sounds great but don't need the wheels if you want to separate the tires from the wheels I'd be interested

So he has the tools and know-how to weld, but he still bought bolt-on sliders and used welding to put them on anyway?

I don't think that is an issue. But I definitely would weld them on as opposed to trying to drill holes for those plates. The bolt on sliders come with backing plates and hardware. @stairgod knows a lot bc he designed his own bolt ons

I'm having trouble understanding what you're saying here but I can tell you for a fact the frame will twist if you just bolt to the frame with no backing plate...Now what about u bolts and tubing?

Eh maybe one day. If you weld the entire outside of the plate and it breaks, you have bigger problems. I don't think filling the holes will help a huge amount but obviously stronger is never a bad thing

Yea basically. Anything is possible. If you bolt it. I recommend a sleeve inside the frame for bolt to go through

OK I have a question for you gentlemen. Is 255/70/17 the tire size everyone runs. Or is it the 255/80/17.

@04yota heres more pics. You can see I welded the plate, gusset and leg together. Notice how it is offset to allow space between the cab and the sliders while still allowing as much contact between the plate and the frame as possible. You can also see we did Dimitry's how mine are, with the plate oriented like a diamond instead of a square. Hope this helps
