:D That was the point. I made fun of a lot of "hard core" rigs on the trail with that wagon before I got rid of it.

Except for the fact that those Subarus are factory built units that have been stripped and caged, and those offroad trucks are one off tube frame units that have utterly no relation to a factory built Tacoma. It's not really a sensible comparison.

WRC is a totally different animal than Baja, but they're both cool as shit. Funny though that people rub their dicks raw over Baja trucks and then shit on "2wd trucks" as being stupid.

My 4x2 Taco can probably tackle a lot more wicked terrain than my WRX ever could have, but then again my WRX was waaaaaaay faster on pavement.

who "needs" an offroad? you were looking at a manual so no parking lot cruise control knob thingy which makes the difference what? minor at most. appearance stuff and? i was looking at an or and a sport. other than the stock shocks riding a bit nicer, i found nothing i liked more in a OR than the sport but many differences the other way. this sounds overly dramatic with your needs only to go in a totally different direction with a unibody hatchback... think even a 1 ton ram diesel with a MT would be closer to a taco than that other fuji car you bought

Here's my take, from guy who went from a 2007 Forester to a 2012 Tacoma:

Subarus are great. Good value, reliable, great mpgs, safe on the road, will take you down a fire road to the camp site no problem.

But stock against stock Subarus arnt even close to a Tacoma in hauling or off-roading. I know from experience, I did both those activities in both vehicles, including driving across the county with a trailer.

Lastly, as for toyota corp sucking- thats a valid reason to be pissed.

The most recent Planet Money podcast is interesting. It's titled When Subaru Came Out and discusses how they targeted lesbians. I always just thought it was a stereotype sort of thing. I didn't realize they actually had a marketing strategy geared towards lesbians. Anyways, check it out if you have any interest in the business side of these sorts of things.

Liking them is one thing, but stating his requirements then getting pissed off and buying something completely different is irrational.

A subtle tweak to his configuration and he could have come close to the core requirements. Whatever the hell those were.
