Ok, here it is. Got a 2006 Tacoma SR5 Prerunner with 50k on it. It is in great condition and I
love my truck. However, trying to decide whether to sell it now while it has low miles and get
a 2017 or drive it another say 3-5 years. Everyone knows its ultimately my decision but it
helps to get advice especially from Tacomaworld ! I'm looking at the trd off-road 4x2 and the
Limited Tacoma. Thanks for the input!

I had a 2010 Sport DC and really liked it, the only complaint I had was the seat sat too low. I now have a 2016 Offroad DC and I have no complaints. Both 4x4, both get decent mpg with the 16 getting a couple of mpg more. The seat sits higher and you get a few more options, other than that the trucks aren't a lot different.

You don't even want to upgrade to a 4x4.....makes the decision even easier. Keep what you have, low miles, run it for a few more years and then upgrade. My opinion

im with above. id do it because you do have good trade or resale now and the 17s are real nice but I too would go off road 4x4. but either way new one is much more quite interior and better ride

I agree with Scwaa, if you love your truck, why spend the money. I sold my truck a few years ago and was driving an suv, decided to get another truck. If I would have kept my 2010 I probably wouldn't have purchased the 16.

Take the truck payment you would be making and bank it, use it when you need to buy a new one

If it will make you happier driving a new Tacoma, why not? Go for it!

Wow! That's really low mileage. I thought my 2005 with 93k was unusually low mileage.

I say keep what you've got. I'm in a similar boat as you. When the third gen came out I got the itch for a new truck, but my truck does what I need it to do and it still makes me happy. I'll be driving it until I save enough cash to buy a nice Tundra outright. My tacos been paid off for 9 years and I gotta say it's nice having no car payment.

On my taco, I did invest 250 bucks in it to add a Bluetooth stereo head unit and backup cam to make it seem a little "newer."

10 years old with 50k on the odometer, you are averaging 5k/year, that truck will still be in great condition when the 5th generation comes out and you will have saved enough to pay cash for a whole fleet of them.

The mileage is low because I used to drive a Honda to work.

Unless you have a really good reason to upgrade (like adding 4WD), make the smart financial decision and keep the one you have. You obviously like it and it's serving your purposes well enough. Why incur additional debt when you have something that offers you what you need plus some of what you want. The fancy gizmos aren't worth the upgrade unless you have additional reasons.

Advice from a stranger isn't worth much, but as I've gotten older I've racked up a handful of bad financial decisions in the past that cost me a long time to overcome.

Hey, I really appreciate the advise out here. I have also been around the block on bad decisions
Especially car decisions and I'm the guy who likes to buy new off the lot. In my case I'll have
to spend about 16-19 K plus sell my truck on a new one. Lot of money for some new upgrades. I just got the truck fever. I guess everyone has been there.
