Never owned a Toyota truck or other. Had a jeep before though. And driven plenty of trucks for work.

lol luckily it isn't much of one here.

I waited for the new ones since I wasn't very fond of the interior of the 2nd gen. It was rather dated so waited plus I didn't want the fuel efficiency of the older one too. Hoping with driving properly the new one is good to me that I get a decent MPG.

Here it seems to be all the fords. So many people here drive f150s. all the guys that were just jocks in highschool and can't find steady work so bounce around through all different general contracting companies seem to buy F150s. Even a lot of older guys. F150s are the most common trucks I see around here. Usually the sport model too lol.

And all the same thing, all throw big 19 or 20 inch rims with mickey thompsons bajas and never go anywhere off pavement.

on straight highways u can put it in 4x4 and get ur monthly maintenance done. avoid very curvy sections, especially ramps.

Can't even imagine having a truck that was not 4x4. Why bother.

There are places around DFW you can 4x4. Theres a nice little 4x4 park in Bridgeport which isn't far. Do some google searches and you'll find them. Look for motocross and ATV parks.

Lol no, well actually when I was a little kid living in LA it snowed in the suburbs where we lived, hasn't happened since. Mountains are only a half hour drive from me though.

If it weren't for traffic, I could surf and snowboard in the same day if I wanted to lol. Probably could if I started early enough

your yuk is my heaven hahahaha.
it was 56 degrees this morning around 9am when we went for coffee break, I was outside in a T shirt and one of my friends was like wtf how aren't you cold. I love it. Especially after this summer with constant heat warnings. No more heat, bring on all the cold weather :D

Oh hell no, lol. I was 3 years old and there was just enough snow on the ground for me to build a snowman, that's about as bad as it got haha.

It does get pretty deep up in the mountains though

You should come to SoCal. Hardly see 4x4's. More often than not you see a huge lifted truck barreling down on your rear bumper only to find out its a 2WD lifted F-350 on spacers.

That's my take on the situation. I had a Jeep Wrangler before I bought the Tacoma and I did not have issues with engaging 4 wheel drive on dry pavement once in while for maintenance.

Find a fairly straight stretch of road to get in your 10 miles once a month and you should be good to go.

Where are you located? I live in Socal and it isn't too hard to find a dirt road to take every month to engage it if I'm too busy to take a day/weekend trip. But to be honest a family member has a Land Cruiser 4wd they haven't engaged in years and I tried it a couple months ago and it worked fine, don't feel too bad if you don't get it engaged every month on the dot.

I had a first gen 2002 tacoma 4x4, second gen 2011 trd offroad 4x4 and now im on my 3rd gen and its a trd off road but this time i decided not to go with the 4x4 and honestly with a locker on my 4x2 its basically the same. I just didnt wanna pay the extra couple thousand for the 4x4 because id rather mod out my truck with all high end specialties then also pay for higher insurance, plus higher mpg. Plus I live in SoCal so really no need for a 4x4 unless im heading up towards the mountains, and my 2wd does perfect in the desert

All the Canadians seem to drive F-150s around here if they drive trucks.
