I see a use, the wife likes to drop the tail gate and slam doors.
I tell her there is a reason every door has a handle or knob, it is for you hand to stay on when you open and close it.
It may stop it from dropping and slam shut.

I didn't like how it fit all crammed in there on mine and having to guide the cable back in so it didn't get jammed or pinched so I just sold it. Wasn't solving enough of a problem to be worth the hassle it caused for my wants/needs but nice concept I suppose.

I also come from a Tundra, It makes a HUGE difference having that resistance to keep the tailgate from slamming.

if you've never had it, you won't complain, but once you have it....it sucks to not have it anymore.

    so worth it.

What was the model and part number of the tail gate assist you installed on your 13 Tacoma? I tried clicking the link you sent but it keeps giving an error message. Is it a Deezee or another brand? Thank you.

I have used 2 of these on my Silverado and both have snapped in two. Both replaced under warranty. Next time I'll just get my money back. Of coarse it wasn't my taco, maybe that was the problem. :notsure:

Pretty funny...kala was just getting all worked up over somebody he doesn't even know spending money on something. It was almost like everyone needed to have sufficient rationale to appease him before they spent their own money. Good stuff.

Have a EZ Down on my 13. All I did to get it to work with the cable is added a zip tie wrapped around the cylinder. Eventually, the cable learns the path and really no longer need the zip, but it's not hurting anything leaving it there.

Only reason I did it was the wife dropped the tailgate once, was good enough for me.

    Like so

How did you remove the bolt in the tail gate that needs to be removed in order to install that stainless steel plate? It's permanently installed.

I'll have to look again tomorrow, but it wasn't hard to do all bolt on.
It wasn't hard to do. I remember it was all bolt on. No welding required.
    I can look again tomorrow.

Right but you had to remove the tailgate bolt in order to attach the stainless steel plate the piston attaches to. That bolt is welded in the 2013. How did you get it off?
