Also, pictures don't do them justice. I would definitely recommend them.

I never had the stock stuff on long enough to be able to comment on the shifting. I love mine.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
    265/75/16 E

lost 2-3mpg and noticable power loss

The OP asked about 265/70/17's which the BF KO2's weight 46lbs each in load range C. 9lbs more than the stock Goodyear Adv w.kevlar load range T.

    The 285 70 17 E BF KO2 is 58lbs.. 21lbs over stock.

It's not really apples to apples because he has the option to get load range C instead of E. That's 7lbs per tire saved.

I was thinking Cooper St Maxx, 55lbs E rated.
But if thats the case does fuel loss go linear? if you lose 1mpg per 9lbs?

No I don't think there is a direct correlation there. Tread patterns between all-season, A/T and M/T will play a role in rolling resistance. Added tire and wheel weight are obviously the worse thing you can do if you care about mpgs though. 1lb of unsprung weight = 10lbs of sprung weight so adding 21lbs more per tire over stock= 21x4=84 x10=840lbs in the bed of the truck..

I wonder what the fuel loss would be with the e rated.
I'd rather not have e rated but once you get into a 32 or larger they all seem to be e rated.

When I had my lifted trucks, E rated toyo open country's which were the lightest 285s AT at the time (41 lbs), I had a good 2-3 mpg loss, never got better than 17 mpg usually.

Though I know a lot of full size trucks get 21 mpg consistenly I am very happy with my turd gen's mpg especially with the BFG KO2s.

That was on a second gen though so I think 3rd gen would do better since from factory it is supposed to have better mpg.
I wonder if you could get 18-19.

But you can bet on the same mpg loss, so 16-20 mpg, dosent matter its a different truck, its still a heavier tire and will decrease your mpg accordingly, not to mention the gearing is different too, so may feel more sluggish than a 2nd gen. Best to ask around in the lifted thread, a lot of those guys are running 32+

I can't decide what to go with. I mean regardless I'm looking into the Cooper st maxx but they're all e rated.
I daily drive so need to keep mpg
But need something that will be good for the trails so 33 would be best. But a 285 will kill mpg and will need cmc which I'm not overly fond with doing.
265 will only get me 31.8 inch. 275 would only get 32.2. I could deal with the 275 but again needs cmc under flex

I love my 265s, everyone asks if my truck is lifted or leveled, nope, all stock, no more lift nuances for this guy. The 265's should be fine for the trail, if anything your articulation and suspenders will be what matters, that and a rear locker.

I'll be doing full fox extended travel lift to get more flex etc.

When I had my jeep it was with 33s. Most the trails I go to are rated for 33. You can do them with 32 if you know what you're doing.

I'm going to be doing a lot of overlanding so not sure which to go with

I'm running 265 Cooper ST/Maxx with a modest suspension upgrade and I've been on a lot of forest roads/offroad. Honestly I can't think of any place I would go that would require a 285 over a 265.

Also the traction on the ST/Maxx's are great. I spent a week up in NE Montana hunting- hardly any pavement all week, wet muddy, rutted roads, wet, soft prairie grass 'muck' and they are spectacular. Only needed 4wd once the entire trip.

do you have any pictures? I have a '16 DCLB, debating whether or not I want to lift the truck or just put some meaty tires on it and enjoy it as it is.
