Hi I own a 1997 Toyota Tacoma with the 2.7 which with research shows stock tire is 31x10.50xR15s. Which is on the truck, now my question is I want a wider stance (California legal limit is at the first Grove of tire away from the truck which has to line up with the fender, if I'm not mistaken. Well anyways I want the maximum i can run and staying within the legal limit. (Spacers). Any recommendations would be appreciated

Check out Bora or Spidertrax spacers if you want to keep your stock wheels or get aftermarket wheels with less backspacing. Keep it reasonable either way, I personally wouldn't go over 1.25" spacers or less than 4" of backspacing. And there's the added chance of rubbing when turning.

1.5" spacers poke out a very very tiny bit past flush

I wouldn't run spacers. I've had several 1st gen Tacoma's. Keep the 31x10.50's and get a set of 15x10 wheels.

A true billit aluminum hub centric spacer adds little to no added stress to anything on a truck if mounted and torqued correctly. Just dont go over 2". Whenever "stance" is added to any car, suv, or truck it adds stress to ball joints and other components on the front end. A great way to describe the effect is taking a piece of paper and holding it length ways at one end and wiggle it, the flex you get is like an axel with "stance", now fold the paper in half hamburger way and wiggle it. Its much stronger, or factory "stance". If you want to build any truck for true offroad keep things as even as you can with factory specs.

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
They were flush when I had the flares on.
