    ^This.

John if you like the dirt and Mudd as much as you like going fast on the street just get slotted NOT cross drilled. I have slotted Stop Tech rotors and they do great even with all my extra weight. The Mudd likes to fill up the cross drilled parts and makes stopping worse. I need to get some for the 4 runner soon too although I might get slotted and cross drilled on that since it's pretty much a street queen.

I went with Stop Tech as a trial. They were less expensive then EBC. They have performed awesomely. I am gonna stick with them. Don't get me wrong EBC builds a great product as well.

I have a full sized M&P and I love it. The trigger is the only thing I'm not crazy about on it. It's a little mushy but Apex makes a trigger kit that's supposed to be really good. Otherwise, it's been a great gun

In line with another thing you have to remember in a high stress situation, another reason safeties lost favor for carry pistols is what happens if it fails when it's engaged? Now you have a firearm that you can't fire until a gunsmith breaks out some tools. Granted likelihood of this actually happening on a well maintained pistol is just as remote as any other mechanical malfunction, but if the safety isn't there, it can't fail.

From a training standpoint, lack of a manual safety reinforces better trigger discipline. If you can't just set a manual safety and ignore the trigger, then you have to pay attention. Downside to this is the people that don't pay attention end up shooting themselves in the leg, or worse.

Worth it. I have both a P220 and P226 and while I like the P220 better I will pick either of those over anything else I own.

I'd prefer to error on the side of safety, but that's probably why striker fired pistols never really appealed to me and I'm more of a revolver guy for carry. There's a lawyer attached to every bullet fired is my line of thinking and doubly so in the case of a negligent discharge. A gun is also never a good substitute for being lax with situational awareness.

I don't think that most safeties cause statistically significant failure rates, with a notable exception of magnum cartridges in light weight S&W revolvers with their internal lock mechanism. I view it as similar to how there's not a large difference in most modern polymer semi-auto's reliability versus revolvers these days assuming the correct ammo is used for the semi.

I've put insane amounts of rounds through highly used and abused firearms with manual safeties and have never even heard of that happening. And the weapons we used for training at schools in the Marines were certainly not well maintained. If it didn't have your name attached to it no one bothered to clean it more than what was minimally necessary to get it back in the armory at the end of the day. In fact, the only safety malfunction I ever heard of or experienced was the weapon wouldn't de-cock after being put on safe. It would still fire, it was just a range liability.

More than anything, for me personally, I got EXTREMELY comfortable using pistols with a hammer, de-cock, and manual safety. I know full well what happens physiologically to the body when under extreme stress in a firefight. We still always had our weapons on safe at all times unless engaging or preparing to engage a target, and never forgot to put it on fire. But all that being said, I'm sure I am hesitant about the new styles because they're unfamiliar and we all dislike change. But it seems I'll have to get over that, that's all they seem to make anymore!

Still worth every penny IMO...Not that I disagree :anonymous: but if I could get guns at cost my truck would be stock and I'd need another safe :anonymous:

Yup, you'll be hard pressed to find a decent carry pistol with an external safety. Unless you go small with a single stack mag. Sig P238 (.380) / P938 (9mm) have external safeties. Dan Wesson Evo 1911 (9mm) has an external safety in a package no heavier than a G19 when both are fully loaded, the Evo having half the rounds and costing 3x as much though. As mentioned the S&W options with external safeties, but again the Shield is a single stack and the regular M&P is borderline large for comfortable carry. So if you really dig full manual safeties, look small and carry extra mags.

Yeah, that's what I've been seeing. I'm warming up to the XD. I definitely would want a double stack, and I'd love to find one with a 10-12 round capacity mag. I think that might be pushing it for a compact or sub-compact though.

    Is it the old trigger?

Carrying on your chest with safety on, AND having a holstered sidearm on safe is different than carrying your only, holstered, emergency gun when speed may be the most important thing. You obviously can't prepare for every situation, but for a ccw it seems unnecessary. It's all about what you're comfortable with ultimately.
Borderline large?? I could never carry my full size.
