Yes, of course, we would all love that. It's not a great substitute, just about as good as you will get OEM.

I would rather have the E-LSD it's more controllable, easier to maintain, cheaper to maintain. True LSDs are a PITA and in some situations you don't want a LSD engaged.

While it works, maybe. But they're referred to as the "Grenade 80" for a reason. Not exactly the most reliable locker or LSD.

Except that in reality, if the right tire is in the air the LSD braking system will NOT apply the brakes enough to actually make the left tire spin. I've seen guys spin their tires futilely. The Auto LSD, in my opinion, helps a little bit as a traction control device on wet/slick roads and that's about it.

Right above this post of yours is the correct years of clutch (mechanical) limited slip, and it was ONLY in Sport TRDs: 2005-2008.

Auto LSD (2WD) and TRAC OFF (4WD-HIGH) are both limited slip traction control systems that apply brake pressure to a spinning tire, but do not regulate engine output (cut throttle) as normal TRAC does (standard mode in 2WD and 4WD-HIGH 2012+).

I think that's the whole idea tho its a traction aid when in 2wd, when tires are in the air its 4wd time

Driving in the sand is about momentum. No sudden acceleration. No sudden braking. No sudden sharp turns. That's how you keep from getting stuck. Tire tread depth/pattern and pressure are a big deal in sand.

I drove a Ford Expedition 4x4 that was completely stock (except a bunch of LEO crap installed) in sandy washes in Arizona and never got stuck. It had street tires on it too. Granted I wasn't at the sand dunes! But it's all about momentum and steady throttle. A heavy foot on the skinny pedal digs holes and gets you stuck. Turning sharply causes the tires to plow into the sand and you kill momentum and bury the front end.

If you've got tire(s) in the air you either need to redistribute weight to level out the vehicle or you need a real locker to force the wheels on the ground to move. Assuming you're actually in a position that truly requires 4WD.

You can also use the Canadian Locker (don't recommend this)

True enough, but if you do need to stop or drive slow in sand, just letting more air out of the tires will provide floatation so you don't need momentum. Street tires do work better in sand than deep tread tires, too! See my link on sand driving, in my sig.

From my understanding Auto-LSD and TRAC are automatically on but turning them off turns off the E-LSD. I did not think that Auto-LSD or TRAC regulated throttle. that is the function of the VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)

in realistic terms most people aren't using these trucks as off roading machines 90% or more are onroad even if it has a TRD Offroad sticker, so in having this type of system works extremely well for the majority of owners who aren't getting airborne

I don't think someone is going to bother wasting their time posting about their G80 failing if it didn't really happen...

LOL Whichever it is that regulates throttle is the bane of my existance! Trying to accelerate onto a highway from a stop sign (turning right) sucks. Damn truck will never go because the rear end isn't traveling at the same speed!
