new to TW and lift question

hey all im new to TW. im 22 and just bought my first vehicle a 2010 access cab magnetic grey sr5 v6 6speed 4X4. i love it to death. ive already done BHLM, re-covered the arm rest on the doors, and made my own hi-lift jack holders for the bed rails. next up is to paint the grill surround and back bumper to factory color. not the ugly chrome lol. and to instal my stereo equipment in the truck. anyways my question is i want to lift the truck in the spring. i want a 3" lift so i can put 33" X 11.5" tires. it is my daily driver but i want it to be a good trail rig (thats why we have toyotas right lol) my budget right now is pretty low so ive been looking at spacer lifts. what are ur thoughts on spacers and ive been looking at the ready lift sst lift kit for the 05+ tacomas. what do u think about this lift. and if not witch do u rather. tell me everything u all like and prefer.

welcome,not to be a dick but did u search under "search"im sure you will find an answer.to sum it up.i "had" the spacers and took them off really quick cause they are not good for your truck.if you dont have the money to do it right,save up and do it right the first time.good luck.

 

Welcome to TW,SKIP the spacers and drive the truck for awhile......If your going to lift it do it right the first time.You do not need a lift to wheel these trucks they are capable right off the showroom floor, a tire upgrade would help.Do a few searchs lots of info and lift suggestions.

 

DO NOT GET SPACERS. I have them and hate them. Like everyone else is saying just save your money. A real lift will make you more happy. Don't do it until you can do it right. F*** spacers.

 

hey all thanks for the responses. what is it about the spacers u all dont like? does it hurt the truck? affect the ride? im trying to figure out what is wrong with them. i am a newb and ive tried to find something about them but its hard to get everything im asking lol if anyone has some good literature on these systems and maybe some one real lifts u all like. it seams to me that the popular lift is the toytec lift. but again thanks for the help and sorry for the newby questions (broken record)

 

the ride is stiff and the tires are hard to control. They track horribly. Just the other day I was driving in the rain and my right tires when through a puddle on the freeway and I almost spun out.

 

A body lift raises the body only,thereby changing the center of gravity.Sure it looks cool from a distance but the there is a gap between the frame and body you can see at the wheel wells or you need to raise the rear bumper.All a body lift does is make room for bigger tires,no offroad capablity is aquired.Read one of the top posts on this 2nd gen forum about lifts and things you need to know.

Sorry Spacer lift just raises the body and makes for a stiff ride, somehow I got off track with body lifts

 

My bad you have spacers...........that would explain the stiffness.But wider tires are the tracking and flotation at speed,what size tires are you running?

 

i think were talking about strut spacers and not body spacers.strut spacers lift the suspension not the body.
