My 3rd gen install

Yes, two 1-inch holes. One for power, the other for signal. If I ever pull it out, I have some one inch caps that will snap in to cover the holes.

 

Very clean. Does this allow you to still have the back seats usable? Or did you leave them out all together?

 

Thanks, yes the seats are still usable in every respect. In fact, my Covercraft seat covers finally came in after 3 months and I just installed them yesterday.

Hey , im about a week away from starting my audio upgrade, was just wondering about your deadening in the doors , by the picture looks like you used dynamat on the inside of the door and shock mat on the outside of the door , are they both the same product ? Also what did you use to cover the holes on the outside where the door handle lines run ?? And the hole below it

Looks like you used dynamat on the inside , and a shock mat on the outside , are those two different products ?
Or is the shock mat on top of the dynamat on the outside panel ?
Also what did you use to cover the outside holes where the door handle mechanisms are and the hole below it ?

 

They are essentially the same. I had a bunch of Dynamat left over from a previous install and used that inside the doors. I ordered Shockmat to finish the rest of the truck. There was no rhyme or reason other than I knew I didn't have enough Dynamat to do the interior so I chose to use it inside the doors.

What do you mean by "outside holes"? Are you referring to the interior door handle or the exterior?

 

In this picture here , where the wires come out of the hole. Seems like you covered in in something black and below it as well ??

 

I am stupid jealous. Awesome job. I can flip electronics inside out, but the way you people manipulate and fabricate material just amazes me. Props out to you OP, and thank you for the step by step...makes it look like I should try...which of course means I shouldn't try cause people like you always make it look easy...Sweet setup though really

 

Thanks for the kind words. You should try, it's a lot of fun in my opinion. I have a bit of an advantage in that I did it for a living almost 20 years ago. I documented my install in the hopes it would motivate and help others.

 

How do you like the Fix 86? I'm in the process of buying my materials. I'm strongly considering picking one up. Do you have to use the knob to control the volume or can you set that. Use the headunit knob and use the sub knob for woofer level?
