I was about to say... I have a couple of friends with Range Rovers and they certainly do not hold resale...

From all the replies and negative feedback that he has given about his truck. He could have worked and made up the difference in working overtime to be able to sell his current truck and cut even.

He could then BUY one of the twins or F150 then join their forums and talk way more sh!t

I only have one question for you. Was that a fumble? Only real Pats fans know what I'm reffering to.

Correct, but it's all relative. Everything new is going to lose value once you buy it. I like things that lose the least amount of value.

Another local dealer sold a single cab Tacoma work truck for more used than they did new. It was a year old with a few thousand miles and it was the last year they made them. It really is something else

The big boy 100K Rovers do hold their value well as far as a percentage, FOR A LUX VEHICLE. They didn't in the past. Most Lux vehicles have terrible resale value compared to a non-lux vehicles. If they drop 20%, that $20K. If a run of the mill SR5 Tacoma drops 20%, that's $6K. A huge amount of LUX vehicles are leased not for a lower payment, but so the people aren't buried in them after three years, and they have figured out it's a bad idea to keep a $80K vehicle past the warranty.

I'm a M/T fan that ended up buying a 2016 with the auto. Figured that since I liked my AT FJ so much it'd be ok. It wasn't, ended up trading it for a 2017 MT sport. A year old and I walked out the door with a 5% depreciation on the auto. Just my real world experience. FWIW though residual value is also dependent on the buyers ability to make a good deal. If you bought a truck with the "regional markups" I've seen then yeah, that 5% could have been closer to 10%.

Off topic a little... how do you like the manual compared to auto? Just sold my Tacoma, looking for new replacement..never would have thought an auto, since I've owned manual every vehicle, but considering..

Having had both and trying to be unbiased, I would recommend the MT to anyone who even considers it as an option. Its much more enjoyable. I've driven countless manuals and the manual in this truck is great, its nice and notchy stock, the gate feel is very good, clutch is a nice balance between forgiving and responsive. But the biggest factors for me aside from the fun factor is that the auto trans always wanted to shift to 5th and 6th unless you accelerated more aggressively than I normally do. The other is the 4.3 ratio. If you leave it stock it feels very sport, if you plan to put larger tires on it the rpms don't drop to low. At 60 with 32s I'm right at 2K in 6th.
