Toyota contacted me about getting my new leaf spring kit, they told me that they can do the install. I told them that my truck currently has a rear add a leaf kit by toytec. they said that i would have to pay the costs of labor and parts if i needed to put this add a leaf into the new kit. do i need the add a leaf in my replacement rear leaf spring kit that i am getting from toyota. can some one advise me. I have the 3" ultimate lift from toytec set at 2.5" with the rear add a leaf. thanks

Get the rear TSB installed, have them save your old parts and reinstall the AAL yourself. With 2.5" up front you will want the AAL in the rear.

I had mine done a few months ago, don't have anything special for rear suspension yet (was waiting for the recall), but Frankly they sit almost flat (w/o the add a leaf) and if you did it your self the first time, I would ask them to just To provide you the pair, do it your self. Unless you can actually talk with the mechanic doing the work and coax him
Rather than the inexperienced service "sales tech". But that just my opinion

EDIT: actually exactly what @crashnburn80 said! He must have been typing just as I posted...

they are saying it would be about 200 bucks to do the add a leaf change over, may just do it so i don;t have double down time

TSB and leafspring recall are two different things. I had the TSB springs installed years ago. When Toyota did my frame replacement they installed the standard recall springs and the back of the truck dropped 1.5 inches. When I tried to hook up my trailer I was bouncing off the bump stops. Went back and had them install TSB springs that had the recall style clip arrangement. Now it sits level again.

Oh so there was another issue prior to the recall? I see thanks. I receive the TOYOTA Service Bulletin (TSB) as well but when I took it in they didn't offer to do anything and said it wasn't a recall yet so no need to be concerned and to just bring it back once it goes to recal. Am I confusing something or did they just lie?

I suppose technically they didn't lie they just omitted the whole truth or didn't know. Here's the whole story. The truck was still under warranty when I took it in the first time for the TSB in 2010. The secret words were "harsh ride when carrying a load or towing" after uttering that phrase they ordered parts and scheduled the work. So if you had the TSB springs installed prior to the recall you are entitled to the TSB/recall replacement springs. I was able to find a copy of the recall letter that the dealers get. I printed it out and took it with me to the dealership. It's all spelled out clearly in that letter but the dealership seemed to have never seen this letter before. So after about 30 minutes they came out and said they had ordered the parts and would call when they came in. Had them installed a couple weeks ago and the truck sits level now with the front on 5100s set at .85. These springs are better but still fall short when towing. I will likely be buying new leaf packs anyway but I wanted to spend Toyota's money first to see if these new TSB springs would be able to handle heavy loads and towing.
