Minivan had overheating issues this past week and didn't get it into the shop until yesterday. Turned out to be a heater hose under the manifold. So the wife drove the Tacoma all week. Got in last night to find the clutch slipping. In all gears. Feels like driving on ice - too heavy on the throttle and RPM's go up. It's only slipped once, 2 years ago, starting from a stop sign on Marin St. In Berkeley. It's the steepest street in the SF Bay Area at 25%+ near the top.

74K miles. So, she slips the clutch way more than I'm comfortable with, but that bad in one week? :annoyed:

Ordering a new clutch kit today. Any thoughts on the Aisin vs. the URD stage 2 (aside from the $350 difference)? Read that the stage 3 is less forgiving, and my wife needs to drive the truck occasionally.

Also, any recommendations on a decent shop? C&C Auto in Benicia has been good to me in the past, but I'm open to recommendations. Preferably northeast Bay Area for logistical reasons.

It really depends on where you drive. On flat ground, a more aggressive clutch will just jerk a little more, on the trail it'll be more durable in situations of higher rpm launches. But I would probably just stick w/ the stock clutch and put the extra money on a crawl box.

Alright, two hours in and everything is going smoothly. Hardest part so far has been to refrain from drinking this early. That's a lie, I have beer in hand.

I'll refrigerate a couple pieces for you and bring them tomorrow. Only if it's good though. Need to keep my street cred.
