Not a good idea, unless you want to become one of the people (dead) we talk about on next year's tour. :(
The tunnel is still a very active rail way up here. It is not advised to even walk in it without permission so they can be sure there are no trains ripping through.

    Wikipedia:
In Algonquian folklore, the wendigo or windigo is a cannibal monster or evil spirit native to the northern forests of the Atlantic Coast and Great Lakes Region of both the United States and Canada/ Manitoba. The wendigo may appear as a monster with some characteristics of a human, or as a spirit who has possessed a human being and made them become monstrous. It is historically associated with cannibalism, murder, insatiable greed, and the cultural taboos against such behaviours. The legend lends its name to the disputed modern medical term Wendigo psychosis, which is considered by psychiatrists to be a form of culture-bound syndrome with symptoms such as an intense craving for human flesh and a fear of becoming a cannibal. In some Indigenous communities, environmental destruction and insatiable greed are also seen as a manifestation of Wendigo Psychosis.

Look at the birth year 1740

In the United States during 1740
    • The War of Austrian Succession begins in Europe. The colonists will officially join the fight in 1743.
    • James Oglethorpe of the Georgia colony leads troops along with Cherokee, Chickasaw, and Creek Indians to capture two forts from the Spanish in Florida. However, they will later fail to take St. Augustine.
    • Fifty slaves are hanged in Charleston, South Carolina when their planned revolt is discovered.
    • Famine in Ireland sends many settlers to the Shenandoah Valley area along with other southern colonies in America.
    Massachusetts 18th century history:
1763 - End of Indian Wars in 1763 allows expansion in Western Massachusetts to a total of 184 towns by 1763.
1770 - Tensions aroused from British troops' presence in Boston, culminated in 5 men dying, when troops fired at colonists at the Customs House on March 5.
1773 - Boston Tea Party dumps tea into bay - Colonists at Faneuil Hall, in Boston, oppose taxes.
1775 - The first battle of the American Revolution fought in Lexington and Concord. The first ship of the U.S. Navy, the schooner "Hannah", commissioned in Beverly.
1776 - Colonial troops force British to evacuate Boston.
1780 - State constitution adopted; John Hancock becomes first elected governor.
1785- Daniel Shay led a rebellion by farmers protesting excessive taxes, oppressive governmental systems and unfair laws and treatment of working people.
1788 - Massachusetts is sixth state to ratify the United States Constitution on Feb. 6, 1788.
1789 - The first American novel, William Hill Brown's The Power of Sympathy, published in Worcester.
1795 - State House built in Boston.
1796 - John Adams, born 1735 in Quincy, elected 2nd president of United States.

    Also in the Babbit Cemetery:
John Bourn served as Sergeant in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. In 1779, he settled in Bullock's Grant (an area in northern Berkshire County that includes most of present-day Savoy and part of present-day Cheshire and Florida). In 1783, he was awarded a land grant of 200 acres in recognition of his service during the war. He was one of the earliest settlers in what became the town of Savoy.
