So I went to 7/11 today to get something to eat. When I went up to the register to pay the cahier told me that in the future i couldn't wear a hood in the store. (I was wearing a hoodie) I said I didn't know about their no hood policy. She could have left it there but she decided she needed to give me a lecture on wearing a hood saying you can't wear a hood in a bank etc and that I should know better. Anyway I can kind of understand where they are coming from but I wasnt acting suspicious so I don't think she needed to give me attitude a simple we have a no hood policy would have been sufficient. Did any of you know about this policy?

i personally dont mind it. if it helps cut crime/ keeps me a little safer. sure. i get people talking to me like im some criminal quite frequently. its pretty annoying. and i often tell them they shouldnt judge a book by the cover and walk away.

Yeah...Most gas stations, banks, etc will ask you to remove a hood. You may not be acting suspicious...but they have no way to know that- and they want your face on camera just in case.
Most states have a law that covers the same thing- No hoods, masks, etc in public areas.

First I've heard of it. Maybe posting something on the door would be a better way of handling it.

At first I thought you were going to say they wouldn't sell me gas if I had the hood taken off my vehicle. :D

I understand the intent of the policy and have seen one sign for this when I stopped for gas in Atlanta (at an Exxon, not a 7-11). Posted signs might make this a bit easier for everyone to accept.

I wonder if a muslim with a head covering would have been asked to remove it? Seems to me that hood discrimination should be indiscriminate :anonymous:

You should have stuck a gun in her face and taken the money for being rude about your hood. That'll teach her.

Every 711 I have been to in my area has a sign posted on the door as you walk in that your not allowed to wear a mask or hood when in the store. Makes perfect sense to me. Also, IMHO it is polite to remove head articles when inside anyways, plus how hard is it to pull your hood back for a couple minutes?

i get it though, good policy but it seems like the OP is saying she was throwing a little more attitude than necessary.

As for the 7/11 topic...screw those guys and all like them, i needed to check my air before setting off on a trip and every one of those stations charge for air. No change on me so i left. I hate people who charge for air:)

Oh she wasn't copping an attitude about the hoodie - it was the pants hanging at his knees she was upset with! :)
