Thanks man. No I just put it on. No dipping. The only thing I did was paint the letters.

 

Ok, from the pic it looks a little more matte

Just wondering if anyone has, just to add a layer of protection. Like you said your other grille had a few minor nicks.

 

That's a good idea.

 

Especially since mine is still in the box. Think I'll give it a try and see how it looks!

 

Any of you guys know if adding more coats to an already finished and glossified job would be okay? Noticed I had some spots that I didn't cover that well plus got some chips on my grill already.

 

Dipped my chrome bumper covers.
8 coats of black
4 coats of glossifier

 

Currently dipping the Tacoma emblems, v6 emblem, and my under armour emblems. I will post pictures when I'm done, I'm on the clear coat to make it shiny!

 

Yeah not a fan of plasti dip. Some came off while I was peeling it off. I tried to fix it but it will probably come off my next wash. So I will move to plan b with black overlays!

 

That's the way it's supposed to work... if you are peeling it off... it is supposed to come off. OR... Do you mean... when you were cleaning up around the edges some PD came off where it was not intended..?

I assume that's what you meant... How long did you wait before trying to peel the excess..??

 

While I was cleaning up around the edges some came off of the chrome. I waited about 15 minutes between Coates and probably 30-45 minutes after my last coat before peeling it off.

 

Yeah.. shudda waited a lot longer to do to peel.. I learned the hard way also..

 

Love the way this turned out. Didnt like the all black everyone was doing so I stole this look from another member. Unlike many, I actually like this grill. Even more now that it black.

 

Did you remove the grill first, or leave it in place and just mask off? Thanks.

 

Took everything off. Broke a few clips in the process.

Here is mine I did over the weekend. Not really sure its the way I want it. I may give it another go at some point but for now I'll leave it and see if grows on me. Anything to justify not buying the TRD Pro grill. Tried to do a color matched logo but came out a gray.

 

Removing the mesh really added to the look of the grill. Tasteful design choice.
