Show your 1911.

Looking to get a 1911 either a S&W or springfield. I know kimber is the way to go but dont want to swing that much cash just yet.

 

How much do you think a Kimber costs?

Kimber is so worth all the money. Much better the SA or S&W IMHO.

Before I bought that one I shot all three to get a feel for them and Kimber was the best and only a couple bucks more than the others.

I've got an S&W 1911. Some people don't like external extractors on 1911's as they aren't true to the original design, however, it functions flawlessly.

S&W's are among the most reliable sub $1K 1911's out there. I've heard of enough reliability issues with Kimbers that I'd, personally, never want to own one.

 

yeah i really like the S&W and i have 40% off if i buy one. So i would pay the same as a SA or kimber but would have to wait 6-10weeks to get it.

 

Of the three choices you mentioned, I'd go with SA or S&W. As I mentioned, S&W 1911's are known to run flawless right out of the box. Springfields may have some teething issues early on but their lifetime warranty is the best in the business (S&W's warranty is up there too). Kimber's warranty is a joke (1 year), especially considering how many owners need to use it.

If you're looking to spend around $900, I'd recommend you save a little more and get a Dan Wesson instead. They use all quality custom parts (no MIM) and are the best production 1911s out there.

 

yeah my price range is around $600-$700 so thats why i was looking at SA and S&W both of those i can get for right in my price range.

I don't own one, but they are reputed to be one of the utter best.
They're match worthy 1911's. I love them, some modifications with the traditional 1911's (Double stacked mag) but they are dead sexy.

No offense, but Para's quality is hit and miss and I've never heard them referred to as one of the best 1911s out there.

I am about to buy my buddies M5 Bul 1911, I have shot it plenty of times and it is a really nice gun. Double stacked mags with a muzzle break and all.

Crap picture of the gun but it is all i have. My wife seems to like the gun too.

 

Paras are junk for the most part. QC is severely lacking. Production 1911s will all need some degree of work to get them to function and feel exactly how you want them. My SW was alright factory but I replaced almost every internal and now I love it. Kimber, Springfield Armory, or SW are good choices for production guns. Wilson, Nighthawk, Les Bear, or Springfield TRP are the only ones I've seen that won't need any additional work. Here's my SW w/ my 686.
